    Selling Your Blood

I was recently considering "donating" my blood plasma and being recompensed for my time twice a week for 35 dollars a visit to earn some cash.

Have any of you ever donated plasma? Have you done it for money? Any things I should know? Is someone over 16 but under 18 eligible?

I heard it only takes about 20 minutes every visit. Would make more money than me working a full shift once a week at a part time job for minimum wage; and a lot less work!

Do you think its a good idea or not? Do you believe its morally wrong?

Up until recently I had no problem with it. However, after conversing with one of my friends fathers who is a neurosurgeon with numerous qualifications in the field, he said the donating blood isn't actually all that healthy for you.

You see, everytime you inject a needle into yourself, you penetrate and damage the cell wall, and each time, this weakens your immune system. Now, it's all good and well if you do it once or twice, the weakening is rather minimal, but, the point is you've damaged it and it has weakened. Didn't believe him until he showed me the books.

To answer the questions No I haven't donated plasma, and I'm fairly sure if your over 16 you can donate as it's the age of consent perhaps parental permission may be required. It's purely altruistic and it most certainly isn't morally wrong.

I've been donating Plasma for about 4 months, I make $40.00 a week. I was told that my imune system would suffer, I find that taking an ibuprofen every now and then is a good fix to it. I find it as a good way to make money as a college student. I think I've accumulated over $600.00 so far, which is nice side cash for my hobbies.

I personally have had no problems physically with it, although your first time donating you may a little woozy. Drink a bottle of water everyday! ( Helps keep that Freshman 15 off too! )

For me, it's completely wrong. Imagine someone selling his penis! I believe that your blood is part of you and you shall not sell it so cheap! $35. DUHH!! Work few hours or make a small business and you will get it in no time! My advice to you, don't sell it!

When a penis is removed from your body, it doesn't grow back. When you remove the penis, you won't get another penis to emerge from that hole. (Plus you are spineless as a male if you allow this to happen).

450mL or so after donating will return in about four to six weeks assuming you keep a well rounded diet, exercise, etc.

While you're at it, find a sperm facility. That'll add at least another $50 a week for you.
(I don't do it because of some health problems)

This is literally one of the best things I've ever read in my first few days on this site.

I've never donated blood, but I have debated selling it in the past. The only problems I have with it is if I either feel tired or get sick from the weakening of the immune system.

Personally against it, if your sole aim is making money.

You are in a sense, selling yourself.

I don't think I will ever donate blood to be honest, it seems a little risky and I am terrified of needles.

Without the consent of your parents, it is illegal to donate blood under the age of 18-years-old.

I will never donate my blood for the fact that it's mine. I do not donate semen for the sole fact that it's my genes, and you'd grow up having kids out in the world that you wouldn't even know about.
