A "What to do if you are scammed" Sticky

In all of the time that I've been here, I've frequently seen people post in the Feedback and Community General sections about being scammed. Usually, these threads contain phrases like "What do I do if I'm scammed?" or "I hope this is the right section."
Some examples of this: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1217654 and http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1208710.

Now, the people that frequent Sythe.org know that we have a Report a Scammer section at the bottom of the homepage. But, according to these threads, it seems that it isn't made clear enough for newer users that haven't spent all that much time here (after all, it is all the way at the bottom).

So what I suggest is to create a sticky inside the Feedback and Community General sections (since this is where people usually post threads like this) that tells new users what to do if they are scammed. It would include a link to the Report a Scammer forum and information from this sticky.

Other things that could be included in this sticky:
Guidlines to staying safe in other trades (Like in WeRnIS' post here.)
    Will add more later.

I'm kinda supporting... I'd dislike the amount of stickies but it'd be useful for newcomers.

    Well, we have this: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1199458

It covers 'What to do when you have been scammed' and many other commonly asked questions with a few helpful stickies in there too. Maybe it can be copied in to Community General...

That would be a good idea! Thanks for pointing that out JohnK, I didn't see that sticky.

The problem with it staying in there is that it is hard to find. I have ever so rarely visited that section, and I don't think that new users would think of it.

I support this. The problem isn't that the site lacks the information, but rather some of it is rather hard for some users to locate.

It would help the scammers get banned, there is already a thread in the Report a Scammer section but I don't think many people know that section is there.

Or the ''Report a scammer'' section could be moved to the top of the homepage somewhere?
Then it's quicker to find for newcomers.
    Anyway, i support this.

Been suggested before, it's good at the bottom.

Support on the main idea, but this already exists, am I right?

Well most people already know if they get scammed they should file a report in RaSc.

There should be a way to get to members. I would suggest whenever a new user registers they get an automatic PM telling you about Sythe and helpful links etc. like how to not get scammed and all those helpful guides. But that might put restraint on the servers or something that I am guessing as I had this coded on my old forums and it really slowed the bored down.

Maybe pinned in announcements or something like that? Or a redirect board (just like the one with the forum rules) to the scammer section forum?

    Just throwing ideas..

I agree with this or instead of making the RaSc section have it's own category for one sub-forum which is ugly, I'd suggest moving it to the "Our Community" forum category since it does involve our community and it'd be much more easier to see it?

Prevention is always better. You must be vigilant to notice too good to be true offers.

I fully support this. I'm so sick of the "Imlegit1233 scammed me!!!" threads. It would be nice if all members knew what to do after being scammed, and it would prevent the scammer from taking more from other members because he/she knows they'll be banned soon (like most of them do at least), thus knowing and being able to file a scam report much quicker.

I'm wavering slightly, when I first joined I wasn't exactly sure where to report somebody, but within a few minutes I found the correct section.

I'm going to be honest, I rarely ever read stickies, some of the sections already have numerous stickies.

Possibly though, have a link in all major trading sections to the report a scammer one, evidently this would lead to many more stickies.

    Screw it, support.

Honestly, this isn't necessary. We can post 3,000 stickies and people will always ignore most of them... We have a section CLEARLY marked Report a Scammer and a million references to it throughout the forum. And, if people post somewhere confused, a mod should step in, post advice, and lock the thread. Lets let the mods and the community do their part and help guide each other.
