    Transgender 10 year old, thoughts?

Thats just it at that age nothing influences you, but what you grow up with\around tends to influence you later in life. Which leads back to bad parenting if the mom\dad didn't dress up the boy in female clothing [ last time I checked ballerina outfits were for females, why the hell would you buy that for your son.]

This kid simply knows nothing about gender etc. he\she is simply just doing what he\she was taught by his\her parents which imo is bad parenting. you should teach your son\daughter the "normal" way then after 14+ish if he\she feels they may be different [homo\trans etc.] then whatever by then they should know what they like or at least have a idea not when they're 1 and a half years old. for christ sakes the kids balls haven't even dropped yet, how can you tell if you like females\males if your hormones aren't even fully active yet.

And who the fuck are you to say what this kid feels? Seriously, get a grip. Ask ANY transgender person and they will tell you that from a VERY young age they knew that they were not in the right body. Gender is not something learned, it is something very primal and essentially instinctive. Studies have shown similarities in the brains of transsexuals and the brains of the gender that they identify as. It's not something that is learned, or influenced at all by outside forces, much in the same way that homosexuality is not a conscious choice. I can't believe you guys are also ignorant enough to think that someone's gender is relevant to their sexuality. A very large percentage of transgender people are "gay" in that they may be a male-to-female trans, yet be a "lesbian" and chase after genetic women. It's a staggering amount, actually. Being trans does not necessarily implicate you as being homosexual, considering they are two entirely different things and should be treated as such.

Also, there's no need to add the "his" or "he" as some sort of defense mechanism to safe guard your own sexuality or personal beliefs. This person identifies as female, therefore female pronouns are the correct way to address them.

    Btw: yes, I'm mad.

Oh my my here we go a child going to lecture a psych major.

Ok lets start this off in a way you will probably be shocked at, I agree with you. But you are very wrong at the same time. The fact is that it has been proved that sexual preferences are not determined until the hormones during puberty are active. Which at 10 years old and prior is impossible [ except in very rare cases] more so for males than females. Anything you feel before that is only emotional not sexual. Which right their null voids this argument.

Next, the whole brain speach. We know very little about the brain still the shape of a brain has no means of telling you how someone will act\think.

I am not denying that a decent amount of trans-gender people are Straight\bi\or homosexual.

In this specific case however it is more of a brainwashing for lack of a better word than anything else. As I stated before at 18 months there is no way you can tell what you like at that age you're happy with silly noises and bright colors [ such as pink] If you from day 1 allow a male to wear womens clothing\makeup etc. without explaining to them that it is generally for women more than likely that male will grow up thinking that is what he is suppose to do because he was raised that it is ok. Which is completely different from actually being trans-gender though I'm sure you will try to turn my words against me I rather look forward to this actually.

as for the he\she thing sexually he is still a he, he still has male organs etc. which makes you wrong. However regardless to this I would have no problem calling him a she if he had made this decision on his own which as my info provided above goes against that. Thus I call him he\she because it is still up to debate rather he is really a trans-gender.

I had to learn about all of this during my classes, don't get upset simply because you don't understand how the human body works.

I don't need to know what your major is, useless information much. Have you ever had first hand experience with transgender people? I would venture to say not, because you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to them. I highly doubt anything of the sort has been proven about sexual preference, so I would appreciate some links or something, but even if it had, that doesn't make it a conscious choice. Do you think a homosexual can sit down and consciously tell you why he/she likes the same sex? I would also venture to say that they probably couldn't, just that they've always had an attraction to that sex, for no particular reason, they just prefer it. You're a moron, there are emotional differences between males and females. Just because this person has not undergone puberty yet, and therefore may not be fully developed and understand what sex is does not have any bearing whatsoever on whether or not he/she can feel gender confused. Let me break this down for you as simply as I possibly can, if you don't get it, do me a favor and change majors: GENDER AND SEXUALITY ARE NOT THE SAME. There is a difference between a boy and a girl both mentally and physically at any age (yes even 18 months, derp). No parent WANTS their child to be transgender. No parent would wish that on their own child. It's a rough thing, it's not something trans people just get over by dressing up. Coaxing your child into thinking that was what's right is retarded and I'm like 99% positive not what happened here. If the kid wanted to do girl things and the parents allowed it, how is that bad parenting? I've known plenty of boys that had older sisters who absolutely tortured them by making them play dress up, wear makeup, etc. including myself (damn you older sister) and we all turned out fine, so your argument that this somehow leads them to be gender confused is also null and void.

Yeah she's still legally a male, but you've stated yourself under normal conditions you'd have no problem using female pronouns, but you feel like this person isn't making their own decisions. I raise to you the question I did in my original post towards you "Who the fuck are you to say what this kid feels?" I could go on and on about what I think YOU feel, but it does not make me right. Neither does you being a psych major make you unequivocally correct about her feelings either.

edit: also, not to be nit picky or a grammar nazi because I'm far from perfect but I'd like to think that a psych major would at least be able to make proper use of their/there/they're. that and this is coming from the same guy who claims to have revolutionized botting in RS by helping Reines with STS lol. Haha.

    Transgender 10 year old, thoughts?

Too bulky didn't read only skimmed through to post on some of the main details if there is something you wish for me to address please make your post a little more formal and easier to read.

Obviously you know nothing about psychology as it deals with the mind and how it works, and because I am a major in the field it means that obviously I'd know a decent amount of information on how the mind works.

I actually have known 1 trans-gender person who was a friend of my sisters I talked with her several times about the subject and I can understand why she wanted to change. As for you wanting links I would suggest you use your buddy google it's out there I'm not going to hold your hand on this one. Most of my psych class was to do with text books and as such I have no knowledge of where I can find such info on the internet. I would suggest also going to your local library and picking up a psych book or 2.

Like homosexuality, trans-genders don't usually know what their sexual preference nor what their own sexuality [which I believe you're confusing the two.] until they have matured [through puberty] I believe you can more than likely ask Finn and some of the other homosexual members of the sythe community and they will more than likely confirm this.

Gender and sexuality are in fact the same thing, though sexual preference is not. Which is what you're not seeming to understand.

If by different you mean male and female sex organs than yes you're right other than that not much is different until around the age of 10 or so when females start to hit puberty. Anything else is simply what they have learned.

You get upset yet you act as if trans-gender is a bad thing yet you attempt trash talk me about my thoughts on this one subject how ignorant can one person possibly be?

At the whole dress up\kids being forced to wear make up by there sisters etc. all I have to say is this sisters making their brothers wear make up\dress up etc. is one thing but when from day one you do not tell the child the difference between males and females [ and no I'm not talking about
sex at a young age or anything you may try to come up with.] and you enforce things like buying a male child ballerina outfits etc. then obviously the child is going to grow up thinking this.

Babies are comprehensive at a early stage but that only means they register words not understand them to say a child can understand the difference between males and females etc. and know it's specific preference at any young age especially 18 months is just ignorance of the highest caliber.

to your second paragraph I will just say this. If the only information that I knew about the child was that he\she was trans-gender than yes I may be leaning more toward your logic but this simply is not the case. We know how the child was raised etc. which adds more information to the subject
and from this information it is fairly clear that the parents had a very very large part in the thoughts of the child. I would also like to add using larger words don't make your statements hold any more ground than they already do it just makes you seem more pretentious.

Furthermore I am not saying 100% fact that I am right what I am saying is that at this point it is wrong and I really believe the parents have very bad parenting skills.

To your edit in your post:

    1. I know the difference between there, their, they're simply put I don't take sythe seriously nor do I take the internet seriously which means it's pointless to be grammatically correct all the time. So yes I may mess up on my grammar\spelling which I'm sure I do quite often.

    2. Being a psych major does not mean I am a English major for all you know I could be a 40 year old man from India that knows very little English.

    3. As I have already stated to find out my credentials you could ask many of the familiars from wartnet or warthog himself who I am and that should be enough backing evidence I would think.

    4. I would like to point out that you assuming things about my grammar is the same thing you say I am doing I believe that makes you a hypocrite sir. The only difference is [like in the botting thread] I have provided a legitimate response where yours is not.

Why even reply if you refuse to read the entire thing? My statement was not that long, like maybe a page in your standard paperback novel. Your own laziness is not an excuse, and just because I did not skip down two lines after every sentence as you did does not make it unacceptable to read. Since you obviously have the attention span of a tree trunk, I'll break it up point by point and address each of your individual ideas separately for you.

This actually doesn't mean anything. If you would have said you were a seasoned psychology professor, psychiatrist, etc. then it would have some validity but just because you are in a class does not mean you are any good at said class.

You were the one asserting that sexual preference is not determined until puberty, not me. It is not my job to prove your point. If you want to engage in a 'debate' or whatever you would like to call this, then you have to back your shit up. If you had asked me for links to the things that I had been asserting, I would have been more than eager. If you can't do anything to justify your opinion, such as posting a source, then that's all it is: an opinion, and a seemingly biased one at that.

Just because they don't know what the strange feelings they're having are at a young age (maybe because they haven't matured emotionally enough to know what they mean? ever think about that?) does not mean that the feelings aren't there. I'm honestly confused how you don't understand that. As a psych major, I would think that you would know that we don't always consciously know what is going on in our head, but I guess not.

Also, you have no idea what any of the terms above are..

    Sexuality:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sexuality

Sexuality and sexual preference are synonymous. Gender on the other hand is a state of mind, completely separate from a person's sex. A person's sex is what organs they were born with, gender is a measure of masculinity and femininity.

Are you kidding me? So you're telling me that there is no difference between a boy and a girl mentally until they hit puberty? I would again ask you to provide any sort of evidence validating this because that makes absolutely no sense. There is a distinct difference in boys and girls at any age, an observable difference. Have you ever been around ANY young children? Doesn't seem like it...

Being transgender is not inherently bad, and I did not mean to give you that impression. My brother was transgender, and I supported him all the way. The negative connotation was more so directed at the harshness of the process of transitioning. Can you even imagine the emotional turmoil that must put a person through? To constantly feel like you're in the wrong body, day after day, would be unbearable for most.

If the child is requesting these things, what are the parents supposed to do? Be assholes and tell the kid they can't do it? Unless the parents were telling this kid from a young age that she was born in the wrong body, there is nothing wrong with it. There was no (as far as I can tell) coaxing the kid that way either. Even so, these feelings aren't learned, like I said. I'm willing to wager that the VAST majority of trans people, during the early parts of their life, live the gender role that they were designated by their sex at birth until they mature enough to realize what they're doing isn't right for them. So obviously it's not a behavior that's learned or some shit like that.

Already explained away everything you just said here. This isn't an essay, no need to make a conclusion for me. So I'm pretentious.. what do I care? I don't use big words to sound smart, I use big words because they are what comes to mind when I'm trying to form an argument. It's not like I sit here with a dictionary next to me, and I usually don't even put second thought into what I'm saying.. the thoughts just pour out. This is made evident by the fact 90% of the time I fuck something up and have to edit 3-4 times so I make coherent sense. If that makes me pretentious, yeah, whatever.

I didn't want to sound like a grammar nazi like I said because I'm far from perfect but I just wanted to point out that you seem like you always want to +1 people. I provided my input and you came in and basically said "I'm a psych major, you're wrong" lol. Also on the botting thread you got all uppity and defensive about botting, rambling about how you "revolutionized botting" which, judging by your explanation of things, meant you ran around on RSC looking for item IDs and shit. I could be wrong but with what little info I have it seems to be the most likely scenario. Again, I'm not the one that's asserting anything in this particular argument. You say you revolutionized botting, yet nobody knows who you are, you damn well better have proof to back it up. That or just keep it to yourself, because I'm pretty sure nobody would care anyway considering at the absolute best, you helped code a bot for a dead game. A game that had no direct effect on the bots for RS2. Hardly a revolution, even if I give you the benefit of the doubt .

It was not because it was a long post, it was because it was crudely put together you spoke ill about my grammar and yet you don't even know what a paragraph is nor how to use one. I addressed most if not all of your statements and did so in a fairly well formed and visually pleasing manner. Why you're upset about this I will never understand.

It would seem you don't understand what a major is. I am 22 and I started college at 19 so with that being said I think my 3 years of classes [ need 1 more yr for my undergrad] trumps your 13 year old logic.

I did post my source I stated that they are in your local library are we illiterate as well as ignorant? Also I was the one to post before you which means you would have to disprove me not the other way around.

I am quite aware of the meaning of everything I have said I wouldn't have said it otherwise[ or types it as it may be] Believe it or not but sexuality depending on what words you add to it can be used to describe multiple things including gender\sexual preference.

Perhaps instead of trying to half ass your argument you actually read more than the first to lines of the wiki page you read.:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender

I am not denying visually etc. that they are different I am arguing that brain function is virtually identical from what we know so far from the research we have done thus far on the brain. The only thing that generally sets them apart is what the people\things in their life teach them. I have a nephew [ 3 years old now] and I have a cousin [she is 5] they both like bob the builder as
well as spongebob. Both like vibrant things and toys that make noise. the other difference is that my cousin likes dolls\dresses etc. and my nephew is given hot wheels cars\action figures, The difference? Is simply what they were given while growing up and what they were taught by their parents.

Not all trans-gender people are going to have the same back story. They will all vary just as a homosexuals back story [ sorry for using this topic multiple times it's just the easiest way to relate as both are unfavorable ways of life to the general public.] Some who are supported will say it was a easy choice and a easy life style change where as if the people they care about are not
ok with it they will obviously have a hard time.

at 18 months a male child should not know yet what a ballerina outfit is unless the parents push it on them and even then it's unlikely unless it is nearly an every day thing. much less anything else of the sort.

I just had to quote this one specifically please read the things I cap'd it might help you later. The fact that you only seem to use larger words when trying to help push a specific point shows tells me that you do in fact go out of the way to use larger words at times. If this was not the case you would have a more eloquent writing style much like Finn, and shredderbeam [ when he was still around]
    ---------------------------
I put a line because this part is completely off topic and quite frankly seems to be a failed attempt at insulting me because you have no viable proof to back up your above statements.

The reason why I seem like I am always trying to +1 someone simply is because technically I am. I don't post on anything unless I know a decent amount about the subject and or know the answer. I did not just say "I'm a psych major, you're wrong." I also gave a 3-4 paragraph explanation. and the "bot thread you speak of" was actually a luring thread in which turned into a debate on it being the same as scamming [ provoked by me, because when one uses logic that is what it is, scamming] and someone asked me who I was or called me a bot leacher or something. So I proceeded to explain to them my background as for sts I didn't just go collect item id's lol I actually wrote several of the scripts the bot initially came with as well as a very small part of the frame work of the client itself.

I never once stated I was a huge factor in sts but I was one nevertheless I was a part of it. Also sts did in fact revolutionize botting it took mediocre bots of it's time such as reibot [also made by reines] and ruinbot which were poorly put together and had poorly made scripts compared to sts. The
fact is reines was and probably still is the best coder to ever grace any rs community. Everything he did from reibot\sts\rscd was the absolute best of it's time he knew a great deal about many programming languages and I only wish I could have learned more from him. He helped push botting and coding to what it is today [runescape wise anyways], and I would like to think that the fact that he taught me actually means something. Furthermore my work with sts as well as what I contributed to kukbot I believe shows that he is a good tutor as well as I have some weight to throw around on the said topics.

It seems that wartnet is down so to help shut you up about this topic after asking a few of my old friends here is reines current site
    http://www.jamierf.co.uk/
ask him who crowe is from reinet he can tell you all about me.

This is getting to be a daunting task so please unless you're going to post some sort of information to help your case and not contradict you at every turn please stop posting. This is getting to be a book rather than a debate.

You did absolutely nothing to prove me wrong.. Not even going to dignify this with a response about the gender issues. Calling someone 13 years old and exemplifying a "I'm older, I'm smarter" attitude does not accomplish anything towards your point.

Are you srs? I didn't remember which thread it was we argued about STS, you referred to it as a botting thread previously, so I went with that. No need to make me out as stupid "no durr it was a luring thred idiut!" And dude, get off of your high horse. At absolute best you helped with a bot that was made too late to actually mean anything. RSC was already dying by the time STS came out. STS did not go on to help any RS2 bots. So whoop-de-fucking-do, in the best case scenario you made something that helped like 2% of the entire RS population. This whole snap judgment thing you're doing is kind of funny.. sorry I don't write like Finn? I type as the thoughts pour out, whether you want to believe me or not is up to you. As I said it's made evident by the fact I have to edit my posts 3-4 times usually because I wind up typing shit way too fast and make simple mistakes.

Also, as with anything, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It is not my job to search for such evidence if I am not the one that is asserting something. Either you can get off of your ass and go get that evidence, or your entire argument is moot.

Ok first of all as I stated before you're the one that is judging my thoughts\ideals\knowledge etc. Which means you are the one who would have
to disprove me rather than me disproving you,

I called you 13 years old because more than likely that is what you are from your typing patterns\thought process it is that as your typical 13 year old. Also my age does have something to do with this as it shows the significant education gap between you and myself.

    ---------------------
STS was out before rs2 was which that right there shows your ignorance to the knowledge of said bot. The way the client was written was much different from the bots before it. I can go into detail on different ways how it helped push bots to where they are today, but at this point it seems it would fall upon deaf ears because you clearly know nothing about programming or the history of bots at all for that matter.

As I said before read what I had cap'd in your last post as it may help you from sounding more and more like a moron with every post.

It would seem that you still don't get how this all works. I posted my thoughts on the whole subject that the op posted and you came in bashing my ideals\thoughts which means you sir have to come up with evidence to disprove what I say not the other way around. I'm not going to waste anymore time talking about a subject that doesn't really effect me in anyway especially with someone who runs their mouth first and the only evidence they provide helps my case.

So please unless it's something viable don't post it. I'm done with this until some intelligence arrives.
