The site is only here because of Runescape and having a competition within Runescape is not going to help the site as much as a non-Runescape competition that might open up new doors of interest in our current userbase that might increase activity. Having something like pool or chess or poker that everyone can participate in and that the winner is clear in makes the most sense. Having competitions for games that require time (Runescape) or owning the game (Cod, etc) limit the number of participants and at this stage in the competitions (being the third one) having it be successful seems important to continue being able to pull them off in the future and having a competition that anyone can participate in would make the most sense.

Poker would be a lot of fun, but it would be time consuming.

I'd love a connect 4 tournament. They have it in Runescape at the games room too and other people can view.

And if any of you just want to play me in connect 4 in RS for a stake, PM me and we'll get a Dragon Dyce host to run it for us.

I completely agree with SuF. Mini-game tournaments are much better since they have a wider appeal. Competitions like the pool and chess tournament are open to almost anyone, since they can be played by anyone with a computer and Internet (which are the requirements to use Sythe.org).

    LoL sounds good. :)

No, unless you do it by group locations due to differential country servers, lag, etc.

OT: Although I agree with you that these recent tournaments have 'strengthened' and 'bonded' the community relationships, they have however been restricting the number of participants for each tournament.

For example the hosts of these tournaments have only allowed a maximum of 32 people to participate.

There I'd recommend something that any amount of people can participate in and does not restrict the amount of users willing to participate.

LoL sounds like a bad idea. It's honestly just a knock-off.

Barely anyone knows how to play those games properly. Which would make it unfair to them, since there are very few that do know how to play.

If it's going to be official, it needs to be a game that everyone can pick up and play instantly and know what's going on.

    Like air hockey,
pinball high scores (even though it's better to have multiplayer games)
    Free online shooters.
    Tf2 (it's free now)
    Runescape skilling contests.
    Runescape team pvp match.

Poker/connect four would do the best. I'd rather see connect four though.

Having any number higher than 32, 64 being the next amount, is just completely impractical. If you knew what I had to do in order to keep the chess tournament running smoothly, you would agree. Even now nearly 2 months since the tournament started it hasn't finished...

I think there is potential for LoL. The game is the fastest growing game out right now, running a tournament for one of the newest, biggest and upcoming games would find new members who would essentially become apart of the community which is the goal in mind. Having said that, nothing "official" would be run for it anyway due to constraints on the players actually being able to play the game (timezones, limited players per game, etc). I agree with the idea that it needs to be something simple which people know, and that was employed in the Chess and Pool tournaments which made it so successful. An easy, simple game that everyone knows will draw in the participants and attention we want, so I will be sticking with that. Connect 4 is definitely looking promising.

It wont be, in the next few months. 70% of the LoL population is going to move onto DotA 2.

There's only a limited amount of people on Sythe that play LoL, all different timezones. I highly doubt you'll even get more than 2 teams for it, which makes it impractical.

My suggestion is a skills race on runescape, everybody must start off with a new mule [ 1 stats in almost all skills ], you may bot [though you risk a ban], the winner is the person with the highest total, possible duration would be two weeks?

I'd be happy to donate to the pot.

My second suggestion most people have already done, but a black ops tourney. This is something I'm rather good at and it would be interesting to see other xbox/ps3 players from sythe.

a random generator would choose who would host first, it would be rmg decerto rules or gb snd rules.

Everything off, [no equipment, launchers, killstreaks] etc.

Best of 3 games, random maps.

I could go on for about 3 pages, in a lot of depth about how it would work.
