    Hurricane Irene

I live in Connecticut and I am a little frightened even though the storm, hopefully, will diminish in intensity. My parents have seen the situation but they aren't preparing which is worrying me. :(

Anyone live on the east coast?

What do you think of the hurricane?

Lol, I live right in Florida, the hurricane is small, not like it's going to rip your roof off

I live in New York and the news is saying how they're evacuating people from hospitals and shit. Pretty crazy.

I live in Virginia, I don't think it's going to do too much harm here, probably just heavy wind and/or rain at the most, I'm kinda psyched for it. Although, I hope it doesn't do too much damage in other states.

I also live in Florida. I have not seen anything to major yet, but if something were to occur, I would do my best to let you know.

Do not panic as of yet.

Thanks guys Connecticut hasn't forced an evacuation so perhaps the worst isn't coming after all.

They evacuated 80,000 people out of NYC low areas, so some people are taking it seriously.

I'm Floridian too and like others have posted above its not too much to worry about. We Floridians know our hurricanes ;). The projected 80 mph wind speed when it strikes New York isn't fast at all and will probably only be felt over a swatch of less than 15 miles. The storm surge should be below 10 from what I have heard which is pretty insignificant, but its better to be safe than sorry!

Lol, here in Florida we weren't even gonna do anything about the hurricane(No evacuating or anything), would have been a free day off school if it had hit directly

Is it likely to be anything similar to Hurricane Katrina?

No, lol. It's now a category one. It's unique because it's the biggest hurricane to hit the Northeast in 60 years.
