    H60 pump noise

I was playing BFBC2 earlier and started to notice a really annoying sound coming from what I THINK is the pump on my Corsair H60. It sounds a lot like one of the old IDE hard drives churning through a lot of data or something, and is constant. I might have to RMA it if it doesn't go away, temps seem to be fine but the noise is just way too annoying.

Before I did that though I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions that might possibly help remedy it without having to RMA it? (really don't want to use the stock cooler for like a month -.-)

Give it a bit of time if you just bought it, mine did the same thing for the first 2 days. If the noise doesn't go away, replace it.

I had the same thing happen with the H70 but it was about a month after I bought it. I removed it and sent it back to the manufacturer to fix it. I didn't even try to figure out what it was because knowing my luck, it would just spew water(or whatever's inside it) all over the inside of my case.

Tried to just let it do it's own thing for a while, but after almost a week of the nearly constant grinding/data churning-esque sound I couldn't take it anymore and called up Corsair for an RMA. They told me to try a different header on my motherboard for the pump and sure enough, now the sound appears to be gone. I guess putting the header into a non-cpu fan header forces the fan (or pump, in this case) to run at a constant 100% which somehow resulted in quieter operation for me.

Just wanted to post it up for anyone else who runs into this problem. Disabling smart fan/q-fan also has the same effect, for anyone with a motherboard that supports it.
