Prices of holiday items EVER GOING TO DROP?

I quit RS two years ago and I just got back this month, only to see all the party hats cost ONE BILLION GP? WTF? ONE BILLION OR MORE?

Even the freaking santa hat is 100m.

Anyone think the price of these items are ever going to drop? *I'm assuming they won't since we only lose phats everyday from people quitting and such, we don't get more into the market...*

The gp value will always go up, however the blackmarket $ value of rares will eventually go down. In a long time.

 

I can't see even the black market values going down. Isn't blue party hat 4.2b now?

 

Each game comes to an end. Do you really think in years to come people will pay thousands of dollars for a virtual item in a dead game?

 

That's a fairly obvious point. However, I don't see RS dying any time soon.

 

The huge increase is due to the Free Trade update which allowed GE prices to skyrocket extremely fast.

 

They didnt really "increase" the GE just cought up to the value of them.

 

They increased but so did the amount of gp in the game, with todays prices of gold they are nearly the same price .

The price will always rise. The beauty about rares is that EVERYONE wants them and they can't get replaced by better equipment.

Who the fuck still thinks rares will drop? They are rare for a reason! They aren't coming into the game anymore, they're discontinued. Of course they're only going to go up. Who the hell doesn't get this anymore? Look at cars, like Ferrari. The Ferrari 250 GTO was made back in the 60's, they stopped making it, and now one of those easily goes for $15 million. Next time you want to ask if a rare discontinued item will drop use your damn head.

 

Before they brought free trade back those items had a huge street price, people weren't just trading money but junk as well to keep up with the price, so you're wrong. They only went up after free trade because of the price everyone was paying for them before.

 

I would say no, just because they are getting older, they are getting rarer, and they aren't being introduced to the game anymore.

 

why would it go down? they get more and more rare every day.

Mang I was playing RSC when santas where 50-100k and people where practically giving them out.

I remember when phats where 500k.

I remember owning my first two party hats, santa and a mask set.
(green and blue, incase you where wondering, though I always wanted red)

I should have kept themmmm, fuuuuU~UU~U~U, instead I sold rares at my school under price so i could buy weed....

If RS has a future then rares will always go up. But who knows what will happen seeing so much shit happening the fast few months with free trade coming back but I surely do doubt RS will die just like that. Still though gold is so damn cheap now which puts a negative effect on rares in the blackmarket.

I remember when santas were 5m but 5m was pretty hard too get. Only remember the only bot was Woodcutting bots and thats it. Everyone at the fishing spot was legit and we would chat on end for minutes.

 

FYI party hats have always been worth the same, gp on the other hands is worth way less creating the illusion that p hats worth more
