Is it worth it to upgrade a laptop?

Hey I'm wondering if it would be smart to upgrade the cpu/ram on a laptop or would it be smarter to buy a desktop. It's for botting
I have a acer aspire 5552G-7641

 

You'd have to consider other factors if you were to upgrade. I checked some reviews and apparently your model heats up a lot when it's CPU is being maximised. So you'd need a good (exterior) cooler fan for instance to keep up with the heat. If you were to increase the ram, do you have compatible software and is there space to upgrade?

Is it not powerful enough to do what you want? If just for botting you may want to consider a desktop computer..

 

Well, upgrading the RAM is never a bad thing.

But if you plan on leaving your laptop on to bot, make sure it's plugged in and you take the battery out. If you leave it on for long periods of time with the battery in and plugged in the battery won't hold a charge for very long.
Speaking from experience.

 

Don't even try to upgrade a laptop cpu unless you're a professional. It's pretty hard half the time it's impossible.

Ram is worth it.

 

I wouldn't say a professional, I'd just recommend being very careful.
Especially when taking it apart. Watch for static too.

 

By professional I basically meant experience, or well trained to do it.
It's not like a desktop a lot of the times the cpu is soldered onto the mobo.

 

I would suggest building a desktop instead of upgrading your laptop.
