    Alright, for the 2500k(beast of a processor) you'd need a new motherboard($100ish)
And the AMD processor is just a higher clocked 955, so if you're staying with AMD get the Phenom II 955.

For me it's kind of a toss up between these two:
    AMD Phenom II X4 980
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103934
    AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849

    There's also the 1100T:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913

The 980 is probably the smartest choice though. Not many programs can even really take advantage of the 6 cores on the 1090/1100. For botting purposes, the extra 2 cores might make a noticeable difference but I really don't know for sure.

So like I said I'm stuck between the 980 and the 1090/1100, someone else chime in on how well the bots react to more physical cores please.

edit: for your above post, you linked to the 2500k. This would be ideal, as it's pretty much the best processor out aside from the 2600k (extra $100 for negligible bonuses unless you encode a lot of video or something) the only drawback is you would need a new motherboard too. So that price jumps from $215 for the 2500k to $215 + the cost of a motherboard (100-150, depending on the quality)

Ivy, the 980 is just a more highly clocked 955, 955 can go to 4ghz easy so you'd be saving like $50..

955, with the money saved get a good heatsink if you don't have one(cooler master hyper 212+ is $30 and excellent) then look up a guide on how to OC the phenom ii 955 simple as that.

Like I said though he doesn't really strike me as someone who is going to want to overclock -.-

INT-R_D_F: I'd say go with the 955 if you're comfortable with overclocking your CPU, or if it will fit your needs at stock clocks. Otherwise, go for the 980.

What exactly does overclocking and stock clocking mean? Get more into depth?

EDIT- Going to bed, post responses please. Thanks so much guys.

Overclocking is basically just making it go faster. Look up a guide it's really simple for the 955(unlocked multi) stock clock is just the stock frequency it runs at.

Yeah overclocking just increases the frequency at which your processor runs. For example, 3GHz is faster than 2.9GHz. Overclocking is just the process by which you change this speed. It's relatively painless, but to someone who is not really familiar with it all, it can get a bit confusing. There are guides all over the place, but it's one of those things that there just isn't one right answer. Every chip overclocks differently, and every motherboard handles overclocking differently.

My advice would be to look up some guides, determine whether or not you're comfortable attempting it, and then go from there.

That's why the 955 is good, it's a lot easier to OC, just bump up the multi.

Just going to throw this out there, but right now there is an open boxed hex-core: Yes it's black edition (AMD) @ 3.3ghz w/ 3.7turbo for $119.99 & free shipping

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913R

At least when I'm posting this (1:15AM on 8/23/11 Eastern Time)

As per botting on an AMD processor... I have never really tried running that many on mine, but I could run 3, CSS, Trillian, Skype, and Ventrilo all at the same time... I have an older (non-black) quad-core processor that runs @ 3.2gHz not oced...

Lol there's more to OCing than just bumping the multi. Especially if you're gonna try to reach 4GHz on a 955. That's gonna involve vcore tweaking at the very least, which he's probably not gonna have any idea of what to do with.

^ @ above poster, good deals like that go out of stock instantaneously, thanks for the link though XD

I know that, but for a simple OC just bump the multi, stock volts you could get atleast 3.6GHz.
