CPU usage / RAM - WTF - HELP?

Alright guys, well to the left is my CPU usage meter, and the right my RAM.

The CPU is all the way up, and I have no idea why. I am running 3 bots, Firefox with 5 tabs, MSN, and that's all. I don't get it.. I have 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM and it says my RAM is only being used 38%. I need to know what I can do to drop my CPU usage! Help?

Close all the unneeded programs or upgrade your CPU... all people would be able to suggest.

What model is your CPU? Your RAM usage seems about right btw, nothing to worry about there.

 

Then that would be why. Your processor kind of sucks to be honest with you. That's pretty much about right. There is nothing we can do for you other than tell you to close some programs to free up CPU usage.

 

Hmm. What would be a better processor? For around.. 100-150?

 

Are you running RSBuddy? Are you using "Less CPU"? RSBuddy takes a lot of CPU which might be why you are maxing out fast and you have 2 Processor cores if I am not mistaken so that might also be a problem.

 

I clicked less cpu, it dropped to 50 lol

 

I'd go for a Phenom II X6 1055T, it's like $160 on Newegg. I'm assuming you want to bot mainly. You should be able to do decent botting with that CPU.

Pretty sure your current motherboard would be compatible too, but honestly I'm too lazy to look it up atm (should be an AM3 cpu/board)

That should solve your problem somewhat but if you really want to get the best of your RAM, I suggest upgrading your CPU to what Ivy suggested.

 

How do I install this? i installed my RAM fine but idk about this.

 

There is guides on Youtube and one computer building video by Newegg on Newegg on how to install the CPU. They aren't so hard but be careful to not ruin the pins on the CPU chip.

I ALMOST did that on my vengeance RAM stick, i put it in backwards and pushed hard, I about cried lol

 

It's really easy, there are videos all over YouTube. Assuming you can reuse your motherboard and everything basically all you have to do is remove the heatsink (the thing that goes over the CPU to cool it etc) and then there will usually be a little lever you have to lift in order to unlock the CPU socket. You would then have to remove the CPU (no pressure, but be gentle! you wouldn't want to damage anything) then install the new CPU. The CPU has little pins on the bottom that are oriented in such a way that you can only install the CPU in one direction. Just line the pins up correctly, and drop it in. No pressure should be required 99% of the time. Once it drops into place, secure the lever again, and reinstall the heatsink that comes with the new CPU. Make sure you plug in the CPU fan as well.

Also that chip that Noodles suggested wouldn't be bad either. Whichever you feel like buying really. The 1055T would be better, but the 955 is no joke either.

Pretty much the best value for your budget since you won't need a new motherboard or anything.

I don't know what to tell you about the laptop thing because you're right, $200 on a laptop would ultimately be a waste since you probably wouldn't be happy with it.

 

1055t is a joke of a processor. Only AMD processors you'll really want are black edition(a lot easier to OC).

 

He doesn't really strike me as an overclocker though. But now that I look at it yeah the 955 is probably better than the 1055T. If you can't tell I'm not too familiar with AMD

Since he has a $200 budget though I see no reason why he couldn't go for the 1090T, it's not that bad and well within his range

 

I can spend 200 dollars. That's all. So, post your top 3 favorite choices?
