How to keep my CPU cool?

So yeah, recently ive got new PC, heres specs;

Intel core i7-2600 3.4ghz, 3401 Mhz, 4 core.

I gonna use this pc for botting soon, but today i installed BF:BC2(battlefield bad company 2) and went on max graphics, cpu went to 70-80C and fans were freaking out all the time, usually theyre really silent. So theres my question, is there any possibility to cool my pc more? Should i use bios for it or buy better/more fans? Thanks.

Fairly cheap, and top of the range. Definitely won't let your CPU fry, they also sell nice heat sinks, you definitely need the extra fan, or get cooling agents.

 

Ehh, kinda expensive.. and i bet thats like 2x price cause im from north europe :S whats cooling agents?

 

Well, instead of spending $70 on air cooling, you can get a Corsair H60 for about that price. It's a watercooling block only for your CPU but it definitely does the job.

Unless you've overclocked that CPU, it really shouldn't be getting that hot... My opinion is probably your airflow through the case... What sort of case do you have?

Or if the person who built your computer (assuming this is a custom build of some variety) did not mount the CPU's heatsink properly/loosely it could be that it's not dispersing the heat properly.

And it might cost that much, varying on how much they get (up front or per hour), if they are buying the parts (mark-up on this) or if you are, and if you go to some local guy that thinks he owns the market... Although usually it's ~$10-20 (USD) from what I know...

I mean... You COULD turn down the FSB speeds (unless they're at minimum)/voltage on it, but this would severely hinder it's performance... Something you really don't want to do.

My bets are still on airflow in the case.

 

Hmm, I'm sure you have well ventilated case and your fans are installed the right way round. Water-cooling can be expensive if not tricky to install if you don't know what your doing. Make sure your case and fans are 100% right before considering other cooling options.

 

Look up the Coolermaste Hyper 212+
$30 and is a beast of a cooler for the price.
Look up youtube guides on how to install.

 

Hm my case is simple with few places for air flow ( not the best if you ask me ), case looks like this one : Click for link <--- My pc wasn't custom built, i bought it from store which my friend owns ( way cheaper ).

 

Can't find the case model so I'm not sure what the guts look like for airflow etc?

 

theyre shitty lol. like old style cases with no airflow at all (few bubbles that let air go threw nothing else)

 

Well, you could just buy a new case?
Decent one like the antec 300 is like $60 USD.

Clean all the dust out of your PC, then get an air condition in your house lol.

It doesn;t ensure that.
A good case will keep your temps down, but you can't ensure a cpu will be at 45c full load OC'd to 5ghz.

i7 Sandy bridge 2600 3.4ghz , Overclocked to 4.2 currently.

I hace a CM sotrm case with 3 fans , it does the job perfect and the GFX card fan also helps in cooling the CPU.

The gfx card fan helps in cooling? How so? From what I know the gfx card fan would make it more hot. Considering the fan is supposed to be blowing heat away from your GPU.
The 3 fans referred to are case fans. Nympho (I would assume) is using the stock cooler in which you can overclock a little bit on it.
As he said, more fans are the key to cool airflow. I personally use an Antec 900 with extra case fan. (Total of 5 fans - top is a 200MM I believe?). I really don't need it, but I use it to keep my case as cool as possible with as much airflow as possible.

Pretty sure OP is talking about the stock CPU fan and settings so this doesn't apply at all.

Crikey, clean out ALL dust around your GPU. And make sure it's getting full ventilation.
