I think that species that went extinct because of humans should be cloned back alive.

Now species that killed each other off in the past should only be brought back if there is something to be gained in the medical field or another important field.

However I wouldn't mid having those cloned to be kept in zoo's and not be re-introduced to the wild.

This, essentially. All predator/prey relationships in nature allow for certain species to survive in the end. When wolves overrun a certain area of the mountains and ambush a herd of cattle, that herd may die out, but eventually the wolves will move elsewhere, the grass will grow, and cattle will come back.

Humans add an anomaly to everything. The man-made poisons and destruction of the ecosystem is not natural, and you can't use Darwin's survival of the fittest to test something that happens in nature vs human forced extinction.

Dinosaurs would be impossible to bring back, unless you had something like Jurassic Park. But guess what happened at Jurassic Park? It's good for looks, but you have to realize animals are animals. Nature is nature. When a polar bear mauls a woman at the zoo for getting into his pen, he's not "wild and crazed", he's being himself. An animal. We seem to forget that. So if we bring back dinosaurs, wouldn't we have to expect people to die for making stupid choices around them?

Only for scientific reasons. I believe for commercial uses are a waste.

Clearly you pulled this topic out of your ass OP and didn't do you research, because I believe 3 or 4 years ago, they found a preserved wooly mammoth in Serbia and have tried to extract DNA from it to try to clone a new one.

Should we clone extinct animals back?

For educational purposes, yes. But, not just for the sake of bringing them back. For example...if we bring Dinosaurs back just for the fun of it and start mass-cloning it...I'm pretty sure we can predict our death within moments.

I voted yes only for educational purposes but, for nothing else.

You want to know why Jurassic Park failed? Because the douche bag guy trying to steal embryo's for his own profit. Not to mention that it was run by a minimal amount of staff. Time and time again, when technology fails, if you don't have the man power to back it up, you will crumble. We seem to forget that if we get lazy and our technology fails, we'd be fucked. Which is what happened in Jurassic Park. There were very few staff, and the guy betrayed the park for his own profit, and got people killed.

If we cloned dinosaurs, we have huge amounts of armory at our disposal. What are you talking about "our deaths". People would die due to carelessness.

Well yeah. The math guy at Jurassic Park believed they were doomed from the start due to Chaos Theory.

There is a reason for animals going extinct. They're either ill-adapted to life, and lack the skill and such to adapt or we made them extinct.

If its the first, then they shouldn't be allowed "back" anyway, due to the fact that they had there chance. And if you started cloning extinct animals such as the dodo, the mammoth, then you would also have to clone their predators, to make nature balanced, otherwise there would be an over-abundance and we would have to become their predators - I, personally, don't want to wear a mammoth-skin jumper, thanks.

If its the latter reason, then we would simply make them extinct again, or they "didn't run fast enough" (as the Torchwood quote goes).
