A way in which Jagex could stop ALL bots if they really wanted.

I just thought about this earlier and think if they really wanted to stop bots then they could easily impliment this into the game. So instead of having a random event, why not just have a CAPTCHA box pop up and ask the player to enter a random string of numbers and letters. Many websites already use this to stop bots so i could see it working in runescape too? Yes it may be annoying to people playing legit, however im sure most legit players would rather do this than have to compete with bots every where they go. Thoughts? :love:

 

It would work because the bot doesn't control the actual computers mouse, but RiD would still work

 

They had this on classic with the sleeping bags, Bots still got around it.

edit- there is also a reason why it's no longer in-game

 

it would work for awhile till the people that program the bots find a way to auto enter the captcha

 

I'm pretty sure if they can make a bot to adapt to different levels of dungeoneering they can probably make a random event solver which would be able to figure out which letters/ numbers are displayed.

I'm not entirely sure on this though

 

Yah because back then the bots controlled the computers mouse, now adays the bot only controls a mouse inside the game, since the captchas would be outside the game and it would need to control the computers mouse to do them it would stop people from running like 20 bots at once

 

And It's also a starting platform, not a full-proof solution. There'd be ways to automate it so bots couldn't get around it. IE; having to solve a math problem, entering a couple of hard-to-see words, and then press enter and then put your account name in or something like that. (You only get random events every so often, so it wouldn't be some huge sacrifice of time)

 

Good idea but jagex is too money hungry to want to implement this

 

idk if they would do that...botters are kinda 1/2 or more of their revenue but good idea

Yeah guys, Jagex probs already have thought of this but like mentioned they need the money that botters bring in.

 

Why would jagex want bots gone? the more bots, the more money theyre making.

It's a good base for an attempt at slowing down the botters, but just having a captcha will be easily avoidable through programming.

 

I've seen this all over youtube comments on youtube vids about bots and shit.. Jagex just don't wanna.. but it probably might work.. but it aint gonna happen.

 

I feel like it would make Runescape less appealing to some people and the pop ups would get annoying.

 

I think we can all reflect on this statement.

This will never work. Technology is so advanced right now that ... Captcha can be avoided easily.

I've had this exact same idea before man. It would be slightly annoying, but tbh it would be 100x better than having to complete a stupid random fucking event every hour. And the randoms just keeping getting dumber and more childish..

The irony in random events too is that the bots can complete them better and faster than a human can, thus defeating the whole purpose of randoms and instead making them a complete pain in the ass for legit players.
