    Internet through the brain

If technology advanced as far as allowing mental access to the internet, you'd have to give credit to the possibility that people have found a way to secure the connection indefinitely. Or at least to a point where there's several failsafes to ensure the protection of the users if the service is compromised. Damn though, think of how empty you'd feel if you're use to the activity in your brain, and it suddenly shuts down... I'd imagine it'd feel almost like going partially brain dead

It's all theoretical anyway. The question isn't whether it's possible, but whether you would do it or not.

Nah, Have you seen what Anonymous / LulzSec can do? These people have managed to steal info from Google and even governments. Do you really think that people are able to defend against them? They have even attacked some banks, just haven't stolen anything yet. That type of thing is so insecure, I would never imagine doing it.

Another cool feature that would absolutely convince me to get it is trans-body sensations, to have people experience things as you do in real time. To see what someone else is seeing, to feel what they're feeling, smell, taste, hear... it'd be a pretty legit experience.

With all the possible negatives I'd have to say no. IF it were 100% secure, none of this USA PATRIOT Act bullshit.

"The act, a response to the terrorist attacks of September 11th, dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies' ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and broadened the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied."

I know it is selective, reserved for suspects, but still....
I want to be connected, but not spied on.

That's a valid concern, but say for argument's sake, what if the patriot act was repealed or exempted for this specific form of communication due to the insane breach of privacy. Is government intervention the only thing making you reject the implantation?

How is this any way related to the movie wall-E...? Internet implants won't cause a build up of garbage that renders the planet uninhabitable..........

How, through USB? You will plug a cable into your ear? Not possible.

It wouldn't be through USB, it'd be accomplished with theoretical nano-technology. And the question isn't whether it's possible, it's whether you would if it was actually invented in your lifetime.

    These people would.

But the health risk is a legit concern. Would you do it if it were proven non-detrimental to your health?

Very interesting indeed, but it would give people access to everything you're doing.

Computers are unstable themselves, I'd rather not something so unstable anywhere near my brain.

Woah; I've never heard of anything like this, nor has it ever occurred to me. I have no idea why.

This definitely seems like one of the the next logical steps after some of our technological developments (e.g. wireless connections, nanotechnology, to some degree, etc.).

I don't think I would do it, though. Personally, I am terrified when I think of the "developments" (what an ironic statement in this context) that are to be hurled at us, humans. Absolutely terrified.
