But as rares rise, gp lowers.

The dollar value hasn't changed but the in game value is absurd now. Sell one blue as mentioned and you can buy anything you want in game with little effort. In comparison to say back when they were in the 20-30m range and people would often swap dchains for purples and yellows.

That's just one aspect of the value of gold. The cost of runes has actually gone down, as have many potions and other daily supplies.

The prices of rares will rise in terms of GP, no doubt. The question, though, is how far GP prices will plummet. Eventually, I see them going to $0.05-$0.10 or below - $0.01 per mil, for example. In this case, the price of rares, in real cash, would only increase if the GP value soared above 500b, which, I think, is unrealistic.

Therefore, I would sell rares if I had any.

What I'm thinking though, is this. Let's say you held onto that party hat, and as stated, you gain more gold through holding onto it. But, after waiting for a while. Let's say you held onto a purple and it went from like 200m to 1b. Then you sold it, and held onto that money. What if trade limits and whatnot were reinstated? Wouldn't that make prices a bit more? [I think that's what you're saying in the last paragraph].

It would be like investing in a currency as it's inflating, hoping that it will crash. It would have to be an ultra long-term investment.
