[20m Reward] Help me buy a computer! [Strictly for Botting]

Short & Sweet, I know literally N O T H I N G about computers, so I'm asking the Sythe community to help me out here...I've looked around for ages to try and figure stuff out about computers but it's too frustrating/time consuming for me. Therefore, the person(s) who help me out the most to lead me in the right direction will receive a 20m RSGP reward.

I'm looking for a computer that has the capacity to run 20-30 Runescape Bots with ease, and won't overheat or die on me.

This computer will be strictly for botting purposes only, and I'd like for it to cost under $1,500 USD.

Any links, explanations, or guidance you may have all will be very helpful, thanks

Since Runescape takes both Cpu and Gpu I say go to http://www.ibuypower.com/Info/paladin-xlc-series.aspx#p=p2 and select the best one for your budget and make sure you get the best cooling and of course don't bot 24/7 lol upgrade cpu and ram to fit your budget and to best help you bot :)

Really wish I could help you out.
Still, running 20 ~ 30 bots... I know 20 is possible, but i think 30 might be shooting a bit high?
Either way i'm sure you'll get the help you need, g/l and enjoy your profits :>

READ EDIT AT BOTTOM!

Took me forever to find a configuration for under $1500 that I would actually buy, but I found one!

It's got a pretty good Intel i7, 16 GB of RAM, and an upgraded cooling system (if we had a higher budget I would have gone with a liquid cooling system, but those cost a ton!)

The site is having a $75 off sale on that particular type of desktop, and they are even throwing in 2 free computer games (lol?)

The total price (with shipping and warranty, etc.) is $1,491. That price does NOT include a monitor, mouse and keyboard. I assumed that would not matter.

For more details on this configuration, go to:
http://www.maingear.com/boutique/pc/viewconfig.asp?config=EGGGL
Configuration #: EGGGL

EDIT:

I realized that doesn't really help unless you were to buy that specific configuration from that website.

What you will want to look for is good RAM (12+ should be great), a good second generation Intel i5/i7 processor (for your budget you should be able to get a decent i7 like I showed you up there), an OK video card and AT LEAST decent cooling (like I mentioned before, liquid cooling is better but a ton more expensive so don't bother looking for that).

I recommend making a build via Newegg. The more powerful the parts are, the more you'll save with Newegg.

Before you ask people to find you a build, you should specify what botting client you are going to be using. Powerbot and RSBuddy are both horrible with CPU usage, and Nexus is horrible with memory usage.

Look at how my computer handles 25 RuneScape clients with TRiBot:

If I were to try this with RSBuddy or Powerbot, my CPU usage would max out before I were to even hit 10.

With Nexus, my 12gb of RAM would max out before I were to hit 25.

One last thing... people need to know your country because some websites don't/only ship to certain countries.

i'd agree with trilez. for the setup and website.

newegg is the best site for buying computer components. you can look around the site yourself and really build one on awards won, user reviews etc

If you're in America, then search a suitable computer from Newegg.

I think this would be something close to what you're after.

What determines how many bots I can run (and to answer a previous question I primarily use Nexus bits purchased from Rsbots.net, I only use RSbuddy for iDung)

From what I took from silly's post I'm supposed to look for:

-i7 intel processor
-12gb+ RAM
-video card (no idea what this is)
-good cooling (liquid is the best so I hear)

Am I missing anything?

your RAM. Usually, you can run just under 2 bots per 1 GB or RAM.

Video card is like a graphics card, but if you have the bots minimized I don't believe it matters too much.

Tigerdirect is another good alternative to Newegg. They have similar products, and depending on sales and such, prices can differ significantly.

A general rule of thumb is 512mb of RAM per lighter bot, 1GB per heavier bot. On my VPS, I could barely run 4 bots on an AMD 3.0Ghz virtual core, running light bots minimized. 1Ghz per bot might be a decent amount, although it really depends on the CPU, and the bots that you are running.

AMD's Phenom might actually be a viable alternative to Intel's Sandy Bridge. Core utilization isn't an issue like it is in games, so 6 cores might actually be better, although the lower clock speeds and less streamlined architecture (means an AMD cpu won't do as much as an equivalent clockspeed Intel CPU) probably offsets that. AMD is a bit cheaper.

i5 2500k vs i7 2600k: For gaming, there really isn't much of a difference, but I'm not sure if this holds true for botting. The clock speeds are about the same, but I'm sure that there are other differences that I am unaware of (for $100 more, there had better be). I would research this out a bit, or perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I can weigh in.

To the best of my knowledge, you don't really need any sort of graphics card for botting - integrated graphics (especially if you go with Sandy Bridge Intel) or an older $60 should do fine, to the best of my knowledge.

(For some reason Trilez's post is hidden by pic, sorry for any repitition).

My sig.

Core I7, 6gb+ of RAM, nowdays almost any video card works 100% fine, most computers have great cooling to start with unless you start with just a case.

Try this... http://pastehtml.com/view/b3zb9d6cc.html
Overclock it to 4.5GHz and watch it fly. All for under $1002. On the other hand, an i7 760? has 6 cores from the past generation which is still more powerful than a phenom x6, but has 12 threads and good overclockability for the price. That should handle 30+.

What does overclocking mean? And I'd rather buy the computer already put together since I've never built a computer before.

I heard it's a lot cheaper to build, but how hard is it? I'm afraid if I built my own computer I'd mess up somewhere and I'd ruin it lol

Overclocking is when you raise the speed of a component above the factory set speed. It's a really good way to gain a lot of performance at no extra cost, but there are some risks involved.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1DEW2A

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-980 3.33 GHz Six Cores 12M Intel Smart Cache LGA1366
Cooling Fan: Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan (Enhanced Cooling Performance + Extreme Silent at 20dBA) (Dual Standard 120MM Fans (Push-Pull)
Video Card: * NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 2GB 16X PCIe Video Card (Palit Powered by NVIDIA)
Memory: 12GB (2GBx6) DDR3/1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Module (Corsair Dominator)
PSU: 850 Watts - Raidmax RX-850AE 80 Plus Gold Power Supply

You could downgrade the GPU seeing as you say it's strictly for botting.

Considering you say you know nothing about computers, I don't think it'd be easy for you to assemble a computer yourself. CyberPower will build it for you, but you can choose your own components. If you follow the link above, you'll see the price is 1,540 dollars with shipping. There's 60 dollars worth of Mail-in Rebates, though, so the grand total comes out to be 1480. If you have any questions, or wish to discuss further, you can message me on MSN, [email protected] . I ask you to do this simply because I probably won't check this thread again, haha.

There are few risks with overclocking. Building a pc is also very easy. Overclock.net can help or I can. I built mine at 13. That cyber power pc is overpriced by a good bit. Building it yourself could cost around 1300 with quality parts.
