I think runescape should be p2p only.

F2P is great for kids that don't want to spend the money or there parents won't let them. Its also great for making accounts or trying a new account idea. Some times its better to wait till your at least combat 60 before getting members.

Also if your membership runs out that means that you will have to buy another months worth of it to get the gold or items off the account.

 

Yea, pretty much - f2p should stay. Without it they would lose many potential p2pers

 

I love how Runescape has a f2p.

I played it for a year, and thats what convinced me to get membership.

New players need that feel for the game, and thats what f2p provides.

 

F2p is a trial for the game.. without it I bet many of you won't be playing today.

 

Runescape would die if it was p2p only, not enough players would shell out the money.

 

If runescape were p2p only how would you gain levels? I think having a non-p2p system keeps things balanced to a certain degree.

everyone starts f2p no1 pays for a randy game... but after so long you should have toplay

kids in this worls may have bad parents who wont pay for memebership or not have funds to get it or no IRL friends or be isolated in a area where no other people are so a good online free game for them is perfect....

 

I personally feel that p2p is too addicting. Although it was fun during the times I've been member, sometimes I need a break and just to take ite easy in f2p.

 

Do not compare RuneScape to Call of Duty. In RuneScape you don't need focus or any skill. In CoD you will need a fast reaction, good aiming and a strategy to win the match. If you want 99 cooking on RS you will just have to click for about 5 days and you've got it. It's totally different.

And yes, with this mindset I can't paly RS, and that's why I don't.
I'm just lurking on the forums to look and comment some thing.. I ain't really interested in RS anymore. Haven't been for about 3 years.

I've always looked at the f2p as more of a demo of the game.

 

I think its up to the players to decide if they want to play f2p or p2p, but I see no reason to remove f2p. Also Jagex gets much more publicity cause of the f2p part of the game since its the biggest online free MMORPG right now.

 

well everyone has his own opinion:
pros about f2p:
- trial for the game
- lures too many ppl
- get money from ads
- its free

cons about f2p:
- too many botters
- die hard f2p players who will never pay for membership or players who just quit after several days/weeks
- leveling some skills on f2p sucks much. (dungeoneering)

 

Once you had p2p you wount go back, it so boring in f2p. But I dont think jagex will ever do this cause without it its going to be hard to find new players, the main appeal of it when starting out is that it can be played on a browser and its free

 

I wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for F2p.

 

F2p deserves nothing, i wish it would be removed. However, users that have bought membership before and have reached the end of their membership days should be given access to f2p. (I hope that made sence )
