    Apple or Microsoft?

That's true, but why do lots of people buy a Mac? Might it be good after all, or not worth it at all? I don't know

    Okay, noted.

Okay, but why isn't a 2.0 GHz i5-core a bad spec? Anyway, I won't be getting a retina display at all, it's not worth it, I know. And I won't be video-editing so it will be a complete waste.

I don't know this site newegg.com, I will look it up, but I live in Holland, does the 'easy to repair and upgrade' als apply then?

This is kind of spam, I'm not interested if you like windows, I want an argument why I should or shouldn't buy an Apple Laptop.

    Have fun with your alienware!

Thank you for adressing that in the first place, now work down the points you've made.

    1. I can handle a windows pc, and have never had any problems with navigating or installing any software. Anyway, it's a nice thing to know!
The virusses are indeed very much nothing, and that's a really nice thing.

    2. I did not know that. Interesting, will be taken into account!

    3. Also a very nice feature. I've actually had someone look at my desktop once, at my home. I am not a complete noob if it comes to pc's, but I couldn't find out why my pc was so slow. The guy that was supposed to look at it couldn't find anything, gave me a €50,- receipt and left.. Horrible.

    4. That's not really what I want. The reason why I would be choosing a MacBook is for myself, not for what other 'might' think about it. /invalid argument.

You made a nice list and thought about my question, I really appreciate it, and your arguments will be taken into account. Thanks!

That's great, but obvious. Thanks though!

Every Apple user I've spoken to is saying this. I am so tempted to take a MacBook, just because all those Apple users tell me that it's awesome. I even worked on one today for a while, and it was just amazing.

This is a really good argument and probably the only thing why I'm torn between Microsoft and Apple. That buying an Apple laptop is just lazy and that I could've spent my money much better.

Damn I'm confused, I'll wait with my purchase for some time though, so I've got a lot of time to decide, but thanks a lot for telling me this.

Oh and I won't get an ASUS, because my girlfriend had one. After one year the laptop got so hot that it just turned off. And I'm looking to use the laptop more than one year I don't want it to be broken after some time.

    And why's that?

You are TOTALLY right, if you could change it you'd be my hero!
Okay, but tell me why they are better or why Apple's are worse.

Somehow I doubt that 'getting used to Apple' is going to be a problem, hence it's easier to use than Microsoft if I have to believe what Apple users are saying.

Well $2500,- might be a bit much, but you are right about the price difference. That's the thing I've been breaking my head over.

You are right. And I will be thinking about this for a very long time. It's so hard :( Damn.

SPAM, get of my thread please. This ain't a poll. If it were a pool I'd make one, now you're just saying something. Give arguments, reasons why I should choose Windows.

Hmm okay, but you can also game on Apple Laptops (I've played some today), but that's not the issue. I got a perfectly nice PC at home where I can play games on. It will be only for programming and some internet surfing and maybe later for some editing of photo's with Photoshop.

This is interesting! An Apple-user who doesn't convince me to buy a MacBook! Okay that's nice to know. Do you program yourself?

Thanks for all replies, and (almost) all will be taken into account. I really like the reactions here. They are quick and well thought about. If anyone would like to reply some more, be my guest, I love all the arguments!

And as I stated before, I won't be buying it on short term, I'm just look for some thoughts on why to buy or why not to buy a MacBook Pro.

    Quack.

If you get a Mac you're paying an overpriced premium for three things; Aesthetics, brand name, dumbed down OS. That isn't to say the OS is awful (even if I think it is personally), it's just aimed at less tech savvy people.

Having used both, I'd choose against apple each and every time. Only thing I like of theirs is the iPod. And even that isn't amazing.

    Windows.

Two good things about Apple OS is that it runs fast and you do not need to defragment the system and that you can not catch so many viruses (because most of the viruses are for windows).

For for like any other aspect windows is owning, so get it.

This is also interesting. I'm leaning more towards a Microsoft Laptop at the moment. You've all really convinced me, up to some level.

First of all, you have written three 'good things about Apple'.
Second of all, what is 'easier' or 'owning' at Windows per se ? I understand that Windows might have better options for 'things', but can anyone give me some concrete arguments (Don't know if the word 'concrete' can be used here, in dutch it can be)

Ever heard of a SSD? Instant defragmenting ftw?
I simply hate the apple OS and how the whole thing works, and indeed; it's overpriced garbage.
The looks are great, but that's it IMO.

Yeah, but SSD is really expensive. I never even knew it was because it had this 'instant defragmenting'. Nice to know!

Here's a nice question for you though:
Would your work, as a GFX-artist, be faster/easier/better on a MacBook or any Apple equipment with Apple OS?

I'm looking at Microsoft Laptops, and I think I've found a nice one. I will show how it stacks up against the Apple MacBook Pro 15". And I will be having some questions.

^This will be on a new thread by the way.

    Apple or Microsoft?

I find Apple products way more complex than Microsoft's, but I don't know that could be because I am used to using Microsoft's products. Also Apple products are way overpriced.

Edit: Edited your thread's title. :)

    Hmm allright thanks.

I don't think that they are more complex, if you got used to it.

Thanks for editing, could you also close the thread now, since I've got my answer and I'd like to continue with the next step: Choosing a laptop.
I've already made a new thread.
So please close this one saying 'Question answered'.
