Money being held on paypal

So I received a payment yesterday and now it says the money is being held. It says that I need to resolve it, but I can't provide any proof of shipping or anything considering it was rsgp that I sold. I talked to the person I sold it to and he said something about an inquiry and that it will take 3-4 days to be fixed. I've never been charged back before. Is this what is happening?

 

Why don't you call paypal and ask them yourself? Paypal shouldn't hold the money unless the buyer filed a complaint.

 

He's probably trying to file a dispute against you. He wants you to wait so he can win.

 

Whatever you do, do not tell them that it was virtual goods. There is no seller protection on virtual goods, so if you tell them that they will more than likely award him the money. If he sent it as a gift, then tell them that it was legitimately a gift from a friend and that you don't know what's going on. Don't just let the dispute sit there either, because if they don't hear back from you they will award him the money. Best of luck to you, I've had pretty good luck with winning disputes on PayPal from potential scammers doing the above. Only drawback is if you're using an unverified account and you get locked, they will hold the money for 180 days... as I said, best of luck to you.

 

I had this happen to a payment I sent from buying RSGP her from Quazi Hamidi (?). I hadn't even filed a dispute, the case was just randomly selected for reviewing or something. Of course, he promptly reported me as a scammer here. After calling PayPal and talking I got it resolved.

So, if he didn't purposely do it, have him call. If he did, I don't know what to do.

 

If he's disputing the payment, I don't think there's much you can do.

 

Thanks for the responses. I'll call paypal later and try to resolve it. I have another problem now though. After he charged back, I had a total of $17.80 on my account. I just logged in and now I have $2.80. It doesn't look like there have been anymore charge backs or any activity at all. Any idea what this is?

 

It's the payment that is held. Once it's held, it is subtracted from your balance.

or is this after they already took the payment to be held?

 

I had like $30 before he charged back and was then down to $17.80 afterwards. Then I got on this morning and I have $2.80 and I see no activity on my account.

Are you sure? He sent as a gift with a message saying "I have received my virtual goods" so wouldn't they already know?

 

Check all your transactions or at least the first 1-2 pages (go to "View all my transactions") and you'll definitely find another chargebacker, hope not but I cannot think of anything else that can take your money away than a chargebacker.

You're right, someone else did charge back. Thing is, I don't remember ever doing business with someone by that name. It says that the payment date was June 10th. Is it possible to charge back 2 months later after the payment was sent?
