    Job Hunting.

    About time to look for another job this school year, I've never actually had to go up in the store/restaraunt to get an application and I want to do that this time.

    Should I ask for the manager and ask him for an application/if they're hiring? Or should I just ask the first person I see working there?

    Whenever going to a business to get an application try and go during their slow period that way when you do ask for the manager it's not a big deal. But yes always ask for a manager and be sure to give them a firm handshake and to introduce yourself properly.

    The best thing to do is dress semi nice, walk in an ask to speak with the manager. Ask him/her if they are currently hiring at the moment. If so, or even if not ask for an application. Make sure you greet yourself nicely, that makes a good impression. Whenever you take the application back in, ask to talk to the manager and give the application to them personally. Then do follow calls to show your interest for working there.

    If you're going to apply at a restaurant or a bar never ever give a waiter your resume, always ask to speak to a manager and if one isn't available always come back another time. Current employees of the job you're interested in are always are fighting for hours and don't want the new guy, they'll throw out your resume and the manager will never see it. If applying at a job like retail or maintenance always just give them your resume and never ask if they're hiring half the time they'll just shut you down but if you give them your resume before they say "no" they'll have you on a list of people to call back when they're looking. Only time you're to fill out an application is if they ask you so with your resume. Make a cover letter with your resume and have a good attitude and dress appropriate when you're handing them out, you want to leave a good impression.

    Appreciate it guys. I was planning on just going around 2-3 as it's slow and of course dress nice. I don't have a problem talking to people or get nervous really so speaking to the manager wouldn't bother me.

    If you are at the age;
    Work at in a dining place. Tips are the best part of the job.

    It would be hard getting a job at these economical times.
    Good luck bro

    I work with my dad at his restaurant, the best thing to do is look around and see if there's any businesses with you're family. That's the best start. Once you get more experienced in a certain role it will be easier as you have past experience. If, not, apply for some big retailer around your local area.
