Afghanistan Helicopter Crash: More Than 20 Navy SEAL Team 6 Members Killed

I leave for BUD/s in about a year, this is a devastating loss. There is no 100-1000 members of the ST6, there are 2500 SEAL's worldwide, <150 of which are ST6/DevGru. This is a tragedy.

I'm fairly confident someone close to me was lost as well.

 

I dont believe it was just a coincidence that this particular Helicopter crash happened to have 20+ Navy Seals from team 6 abroad. I mean isnt this pretty suspicious? Amongst all the other conspiracies within America alone its just crazy.

Good luck in BUD/s. Do some serious physical training and heavy mental training. Are you currently in the military? If so, get someone with a drill sergeant personality to read your file and have them fuck with you (verbally, and physically if you're that desperate to pass) for 10 hours, you standing at attention.
That might help you be the remaining 12%.

You also should test underwater swimming capabilities and breathing. DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME, I WOULD RATHER YOU SHOOT A GUN BETWEEN YOUR TOES. Get a diving instructor or someone else informed to teach you how to swim underwater, you have to do 50 yards in BUD/S. Also make sure you can float well.

On topic: no one knows how many are in the modern ST6. I know SAD, who skims the best of the best of SF and T1 teams, has hundreds, so I would expect the ST6 to have more, but who knows. I know they used to have three active and one training color squads (like SAS), each with I'm guessing under 20 men, but with the proliferation in covert ops that we don't have to completely deny (those they leave up to SAD) with the HVTs in the Middle East, I'm guessing they've really expanded the T1 units and they could be up to hundreds if not thousands. Also, I believe what once was ST9 is now the most elite purely-underwater branch. The short answer is, no one really knows.

I'm fine physically, and swimming wise. Im a life guard so i swim daily, and im under 8% bodyfat, just packing on more weight would be a good idea.

I somewhat agree with Blade, the media is tainted with information that is made to scare you, or opposite, protect you, you never get the truth, but I wouldnt disregard everything the media says.

It's their decision to join the military and take the risk of being killed. It isn't their decision to get shot down in a situation that they have no control over.

While I still recommend you practice the prerequisite requirements, it sounds like at this point it's going to be all about how much you want it. Apparently the easiest way to get through the hardest parts is to pretend that you're dead and it doesn't matter, or to compare it to a previous tragedy. Good luck.

Because this happened in an area that wasn't under the media's gaze, the media reports what the government tells them. But I can assure you that the media works its hardest to get all the information it can out of the government and second-guesses everything the government does. That's how the media works; they are the true pioneers of freedom of speech, not a bunch of puppets.

Also, this thread has nothing to do with what risk they took. We're commemorating their loss. Even though it is hardly relevant to this thread, the risk they took shows how they are all greater men then you could dream of ever being.
