    Its pretty simple you have too divide the ages;

    Than put in all the variables than add them too equal the product.

    Something like that.
    This is how i pass math xD im good at these questions :)

    cause i never do homework lol

    You can't even use formulae with prescribed units?

    Poor working, but you get the idea. Just noticed someone else has the same logical process as I do, but it's a fairly straightforward question. It's annoying when you have no information to relate the children and parents though.

    Edit:
    There was another way I solved this by assuming the children's ages (A and B) are somewhat negligible in comparison to J^2 - J - 2010 = -2A. One can then use the quadratic formula to get approximately J = [1+sqrt(8041)]/2, which equates to J = 45.33 = 45 years of age.

    this stuff is fairly simple. Wait until you get in to the harder units of calculus >_<

    By "harder" units do you mean things like multiple integrals?

    I suppose so. I just mean units which make your head spin, and problems that take like half a lesson or more each to solve. I don't even want to think about some of the stuff my father did at university.

    E.g. Consider a pendulum in 3 dimensions, in simple harmonic and circular motion such that it forms an 8 shape in its motion. Consider it's full of sand, and is losing sand at a specific rate. This affects the momentum of the pendulum and thus the motion as well. Then consider as the pendulum moves the sand will be ejected in different directions at different velocities. My father had to graph where the sand landed.

    My father also took the highest form of mathematics + physics in a very good university. It's quite mind blowing isn't it? Is your father a professor of physics?

    Either way he must be very clever! Are you about to go into your first year of university?

    A question I got in a test today.

    I'm in my 12th year of school, then next year I'm headed over to Japan for an academic year in March. When I return I'm planning on starting Uni doing a dual degree in arts majoring in Japanese and engineering majoring in chemical engineering.
