This is surreal.

I haven't been on this site in years. I logged in for a bit of nostalgia and started looking at my old posts... and I realized exactly how obnoxious I was. But also how much I enjoyed Sythe.

I frequented only off-topic forums and the community general/news forums. I never used the black market, I was a complete noob in Runescape, and my entire involvement with the programming community consisted of a failed attempt to create a "port" of Runescape for Ti-83/84 calculators.

But I loved it.

I think I was just obsessed with how political it was; a forum about Runescape with its own leaders, celebrities, citizens, and criminals. I think that, for a while, I cared more about the RuneCMS/Sythe.org community than I did about my actual friends.

I suppose I've come back to see if things are still like that. Are they?

 

You just have to have a balance in life...

Sythe was once my whole life... but I've managed to learn how to spend time on each thing equally and as needed in my life.

 

For the most it's still like that, but not as much. People are more friendly with each other now regardless of forum status.

Unlike back in the day when a mod would never consider being friends with someone that just joined.

 

This is so true, I've managed how to prioritize what needs to be accomplished in life first, but the virtual world does play a big part in my life, meaning computer wise not so much gaming.

 

Not really. for the most part it seems like people are a lot more chill nowadays.
