What will happen to Runescape when the world suffers another financial crisis?

We all have read news about

 

I am sure jagex will be starting to sell rsgps if this would happend..

 

Legit players will decrease not because of the next "financial crisis" but because there is too many bots to face when doing simple training sessions. This will lead to less purchase of gold, which is bring the price of GP down and slowly it'll collapse there but that happening is low.

The US financial crisis (if there is) will not affect the RuneScape game itself as RuneScape runs in the UK and not in the USA. In fact, it will not affect anything but how much a customer with US currency will have to pay which would be more.

 

Although Jagex runs in UK, there is a massive USA audience and when crisis strikes wouldn't Jagex in the UK suffer badly due to a loss of US audience? I get what you mean but Jagex is a company that depends on USA players. These Chinese bots are funded by American paying players and when they can't afford to play they will stop too so "legit" players won't see this as an issue. I'd definitely quit if my country is suffering from a "crisis" but I've already quit this game long ago haha, I'm just curious what will happen to MMORPGs that has a large portion of audience in USA when it happens

 

Those who still play from the old days till now with all the bots, you can say they're pretty addicted. Addicted people will not be able to let go of RuneScape that easily, they'll find their ways. The population will go down but not everyone is in the USA so it'll be stable if not, the same.

Besides, RuneScape is filled with bots so who knows, maybe there is more legit players elsewhere than the USA, maybe the majority of the USA players are actually botters and not legit players, who knows.

 

I very much doubt all MMORPG'S will die out just because of a financial crisis, most of the people that play seriously, it's safe to say they're addicted, runescape membership is a lot cheaper than other games like WoW, I honestly don't think it will make much difference.
GP is already dirt cheap, and I believe is now at a stable price.


If anything is going to kill MMPORG'S, it will be the bot armies.

 

If JAGEX knew about this, that seller are selling the RSGP with business successful. Obvious JAGEX will copying like buying RSGP from their website such as Sythe.org, Gold4Rs, etc. JAGEX will eventually MORE secure than othe website.

 

Right now I'm picturing a scene where most people have to queue for rations, share internet with the whole estate mostly using it to contact their relatives and only a few can afford entertainment... not much would care about playing games in some countries
lol I'm kinda a paranoid when it comes to such stuff, I have been watching videos about storing food, buying nickels, how to get home and preparing for the worst haha

 

Runescape will die, as all products without a consumer base + buying power will do. Now, that is only true I think if the markets are completely shitted out. Even in our current market most of us can afford to play.

 

I think that if the economy completely failed RuneScape would be put on a flash drive and be stored at a secret storage warehouse like in Indiana Johns. Lol

 

And some time in the future it would be found, ran, and loved once more.
Then people would start botting again.

Back on topic, I really don't think the recent financial problems will affect RuneScape players or Jagex at all, or at the worst very minimally.

If it was a $50/month game to play, yeah, it probably would, but to most people it's merely pocket change to pay every month. You could probably find enough spare change and money on the ground to pay for your membership. It's going to have to get a lot worse than this to get people to actually start sacrificing RuneScape so they can save their money.

 

It's not really going to affect the game in my opinion.

Jagex probably wouldn't get affected much if there was a sudden crash in the economy as it's entertainment, which almost never falters.

 

I agree 100% with snow. The movie industry and entertainment as a whole almost never loses money in a crisis. People value that over everything else because they have nothing else to live for as most are atheist or non-religious.

 

Jagex will find a way to make money off it lol
