How does everyone feel that the meme skill of sailing is now coming to the game?

It was funny when we all trolled about it, but personally I am not to sure I find the new skill to seem like a homerun for Jagex. I think with time we will see if it will be fun and have content. If they have a pirate mode then yes it will be super fun, but from what I read I didn't see any PVP content from sailing.

Could you imagine putting a Dwarf Cannon on your deck and just ride around killing everything? LOL!

 

Interested to see how many people return. PVP might come later. I don't want to do it anyway, so I'm selling my account and I'll wait for DMM next year lol.

 

That seems to be what a lot of users are doing. I have seen so many 2277 being posted and some for cheap with the reason being that they no longer want to play due to sailing. It also scares me that so many 2277 are being sold, that I believe mass recovery on them may be an issue.

 

I unfortunately will train the skill, but in a game where less then 1 percent of players will max, and introducing another skill is just astonishing to me,

 

You are training to be maxed or because you find this new skill interesting?

 

Another 99 for my skiller. I'll probably do the minimum for new content on main for slayer-related tasks.

 

Level 3 skiller? I was under the impression that using the cannon on the boat will give range xp.

 

Will be several different methods for training. I read the sailing article and majority of it gives sailing exp instead of actual combat exp. i have a 10hp 99/range/mage/pray so i could live with the range exp.

I'll opt for the most afk sailing options anyway. Which supposedly it will be quite a few methods to afk. I know the skill is 10hp friendly as they said every account type will be able to train sailing.

 

Ah I see. Not racing for the first to 99 I take it.

 

I believe rates are 100-130k exp/hr max until some people find out how to manipulate it even with pre-buying materials the skills going to take time regardless. It will be interesting to see who gets 99 first given what Jagex said it should take a few weeks to get to 99 regardless of the method. Will be interesting to see who gets 99 first, and mainly how fast they do so.

I think the skill made the most sense to add to the game if you think about it. Water covers like 1/3 of map and has been relatively unusable. It also seems like a mainly PVE / PVM skill so everyone can participate and like you guys were discussing they can always add pvp or mini game modes later.

But I think it makes sense to add it at this point hopefully the community enjoys it.

 

Bank standing should have been a skill before sailing imo. Sailing has just been the meme skill forever. Hard to no imagine it coming to the game.

 

Wouldn't doubt. Didn't have time today to see what it was like. But reading around, it seems to not have the best feedback.

 

I do think the biggest issue is that the xp at low levels is super slow. Also as a lot of people say on reddit, players are used to skipping early levels of skills with quests.

Also doesn't help that at the start the only repeatable way to train is repetitive fetch quests between two ports. I get what they're going for, to get you used to sailing around, but it really feels like the early levels could have been a bit more inspired.

 

Update: barracuda trials are actually kinda fun for a while
