Opportunity cost. Phat or gold? Struggling!

Hey Everyone,
So I'm pretty spanking new to this forum. I havent played RS since I was in highschool, and after 7 years I come back to find out that my prized Red Party Hat is worth 3B AND free trade is back ^_^

This really comes as a blessing to me since I'm a struggling college student in need of some cash for tuition and bills..


So all this to say, what would be more beneficial to me- to sell the phat for gold and then sell the gold for $? Or sell the phat by itself? Or just sell my 112cmbt account with the phat?

(By beneficial I mean more lucrative, safe, and convenient.)

Personally thats up to you, whatever you choose to do I highly recommend you use an OMM so you don't get scammed out of $900+

 

If you want it fast just sell it for gp and sell gp to trusted gold buyers for $0.4/m

 

Sell the phat for gold, then slowly sell your gold on playerauctions.com That way you can't be scammed.

 

Just sell the p hat to a trusted user and make sure it's an appropriate price per mill. You should be able to sell it for around .43-.47 to hihgly trusted users, .5 being lucky.

By .5 I mean 0.50 cents per mill, so if the phat is worth 3b you can sell it to them for $1500 or so. Just gotta find someone who wants to buy the p hat instead of the gold since they'll have to go through the trouble of selling it, or you could just sell it for GP first on the RS forums then sell the gold.

 

Wrong section, my advise is if you have time to sell the gold in increments then sell your p hat for gold in the runescape forums, if you don't have time just sell the party hat to a trusted user here on sythe or a global mod for cash.

Thanks for the move. I really don't have time to sell the gold increments, I would rather sell the phat to make one transaction. any advice on some trusted buyer? is there like a 'sponsers' list or anything?

 

Sell everything separately, IMO.

 

There's a tradeoff - in general, the more trusted the buyer is, the lower their offer is. Although, the premium's worth it if you want to save time or use paypal for the transaction.

As for opportunity costs, I'd suggest selling the hat directly if you can. Piecing it off would give you a higher price, but also comes with a ban risk.

FASTEST thing to do would probably be selling the P Hat to a trusted buyer at a very reduced rate of like $.35/M.

You could sell it for RSGP and sell the GP at like $.40/M probably pretty easily too, I dunno if resellers buy that much at a time for that price.

 

If you value your time it would be a lot easier to just sell the it to a trusted user and get it done with.

I'd hold onto it for a few more months and see if it raises in price. Unless you need the money urgently, sell it later.

When you trade, don't accept PayPal from people who aren't extremely trusted, you'll get chargedback.

If you can, try to put it up on Craigslist so you can do a face to face trade.

 

What I would suggest is two (possibly three) different sales:

Sale #1

Red Partyhat for $$$

Nowadays there are a lot of scammers, so when selling your phat make sure you sell it to someone who you know you can trust. If trading with someone you don't have full faith in, don't hesitate to contact an Official Middleman to monitor your trade. As the saying goes, it's better to be safe then sorry. Make sure for a trade of that amount, you don't accept direct Paypal payments, as they are extremely easy to reverse.

(POSSIBILITY) Sale#2: Sell the Red Partyhat in the GE, and then sell the GP

This will be more time consuming, but might be more beneficial in the long run, as not too many traders have ~$1,000 to drop on a Red Partyhat, in fact the only ones that probably do are the bulk buyers. By breaking the Red Phat into RSGP, you can sell the GP in smaller increments, at higher rates than you would get then if you sold the Phat all at once to a trusted buyer. Again, don't hesitate to use an OMM even for smaller trades, the small fee for the guarantee of a safe and successful trade is definitely worth it.

Sale #3: The Account itself

With the account now stripped, it becomes much more marketable, if you were to sell the account + Red Phat, people would be buying the account simply for the Red Phat, and you wouldn't get much for the value of your account. With the account stripped of it's wealth you're selling it based solely on it's stats/achievements and should have no problem finding a buyer so long as you have the patience.

I suggest you sell the phat, then you start merchanting with the money for even more money which means more irl cash. If you are wanting to sell it asap, then just sell the phat to a very trusted buyer.

 

i would sell the phat and account for like $1000+ to a trusted seller only! not even people with 10+ vouches im talking at least 100 vouches

 

Sell phat locally, in person, so you cant get scammed, grats on having a phat
