    New hardware, etc.

That I'm getting for my PC with my birthday money on the 19th of august. I'm buying these things for two reasons.

    1. Making my PC cooler and quieter.
    2. General boost in performance.

    So, I'm getting four things;

    1. Case:

    2. Power supply:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/240999-corsair-500w-cx-series-psu-cmpsu-500cx

    3. CPU cooler:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/176157-arctic...o-rev-2-socket-775-1156-1155-1366-ac-frz-7pr2

    4. Keyboard (Not for performance, obviously. Just nicer to play games/work with):
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Razer-RZ03-...NOCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1312234091&sr=8-2

Anything you would change? If so, please tell me.

Unless you're having overheating issues you're not going to get any performance boosts from changing your case, PSU or coolers. I would recommend a modular PSU, that is, with detachable cables to reduce clutter for better airflow.

Also, I've heard good things about mechanical keyboards, but I haven't tried one myself. You might want to take a look at them.

Yes, there are overheating issues. My case is shit and my cooler is stock and the noise is unbearable.

I'm changing the PSU because mine is only 350w, and Since I'm adding this new cooler, then I figures I should just get a new psu aswell, because then, if i was to add something else to my PC, the psu could take it. Now, about mechanical keyboards.. well, I like them and the sound.. but I'm usually up late at night, so I don't want a keyboard louder than the one I have now.

Oh and thanks for your input.

Your rams triple channel and the mobo is dual channel, you need 2 or 4 sticks of memory or it will be slower.

OP IMO, switch to this http://www.ebuyer.com/220862-cooler...-gx-650w-psu-special-offer-bundle-rc-692-kka3
Cm690 II is an amazing case, and it's a 650w powersupply from a pretty decent maker.

I beg to differ. I have the Corsair 600w (next up) in my brother's PC and mine before that. It works perfectly and haven't had a problem with it for almost 2 years now.

The only con that I noticed is that you can't remove the excess cables which can trap heat and generally make your case look more cluttered.

Was talking about that coolmax crap delta posted.

I'd rather get the CM690II deal with the PSU tho, more watts with a still decent psu maker, and a better case(IMHO)

I hope to god this is a prank. Your motherboard is dual channel. Look at your ram. [IMG]

You're not going to see any performance gains from upgrading case, fans, or power supply. The case will reduce rage when you find out your fifth hard drive won't fit, the fans will provide a nice and noisy experience, and the power supply will keep you from raging when your system fails/shorts. As for the keyboard, you're still not really looking at performance gains. Switching to a mechanical keyboard and/or Dvorak is the only way you'll see performance gains there.

edit1:If you're looking for better cooling and noise reduction, then a full sized tower with 120mm fans and efficient PSU are required. A full sized tower allows for more and larger fans (120mm) which run slower to provide good cooling. I have used both Thermaltake and Antec cases in mid- and full-sized towers; I have never been happy with an Antec or mid-sized tower. As for the PSU, that's the greatest reduction in heat you can find, but only if you get an efficient model. A 750W PSU may put out 750W, but it can easily take in over 850W of power. That 100W is going straight to heat. Look for an 80 plus certified.

edit2: Your current power supply is listed as having connections long enough for a full tower. Without a modular system, your entire computer is going to be filled up with power cords. Rather than switch PSU, I suggest switching the case. You picked a good PSU.

um no? It's working fine. :)

edit- it was the recomended ram for it at the time, i've ran it on plenty of games and it outpeforms my 9700 Geforce w/ only 8 gbs of ram.

Deadfish, the antec 300 is a pretty sweet case, but i'd get the combo I linked to with the 690II & 650w CM psu. Also 120mm fans arent everything.
Quality cases IMO Antec 902, Coolermaster HAF series, CM 690II, Antec 300(budget), any corsair case, Fractal, LianLi, all excellent case makers. Dont go on the amount of fans it has, look up reviews of it(linus tech tips has a lot of case reviews, same with NCIX tech tips both youtube channels check them out for case reviews).

Delta, you dont know shit then. if you're using 3 ram sticks on an AMD build it's using single channel and it is slower, if you use 2 or 4 sticks of ram it's faster.

Plus the 690 has cabl;e mangement whilst the 300 doesnt, it's a lot more nicer case, and cooling will be excellent.

Cases and PSUs are two of the most important components.
Shit case can equal to overheating, shit psu and your components are fucked.
    IMO.
Get a quality case and psu and it can last you a life time.(not literally but can last you builds after builds.)
