Range tanks still good for pking?

I haven't played RS for 2 years and I'm just getting back, so I wanted to know if range tanks are still effective at pking.

 

It's still fun on mine. Only time I have a challenge/am even matched is usually against zerkers with turmoil.

 

Against someone that doesn't have turm, yes.

If they have turm, you're going to be pretty evenly matched.

By the way, anyone here actually successfully 100% a maxed range pure? I want to try it, but I don't know what to use and if any programs actually work. *I would only bot around 12-15 hours a day, imitating a no-lifer.*

 

I botted 99 range on my pure turned zerker turned barrows pure.

SWed 24/7, no bans, roll backs, etc.

 

I have a maxed range tank, 70-70-99, 99 hp, 99 mage, 99 range, 44 pray

I don't even bother fighting in edge

 

How come? Its not good??

Range tanks are decent up to 70 def.

 

Ranged tanks are good if they have rigour...

that's about it.

 

With rigour range tanks are the best pkers in the game tbh.

 

I currently have two range tanks

99 def, 99 range, 99 mage, 99 HP, 95 Pray, 109+11 Combat

75 def, 99 Range, 78 Mage (Lol), 90 HP, 47 Pray (Lol)

Still training my baby tank up, but I think if you're going to be making a range tanker, stay 80 defense or lower, and don't get 95 prayer, 74 tops for Rigour if you can dungeoneer and get the prayer, or 44 if you just cbf'd.

Vengeance is a must, and there are a multitude of ways you can maximize a tanker out. Hybridding is super easy but hard to get kills if someone has decent tank gear, and Edgeville is easy if the other party isn't antifiring. Now that morrigans javs/axes are extremely pricy, DBolts/Diamond bolts are your best bet.

 

They are pretty solid, especially at 103 combat (maxed tank) because not a ton of people are maxed yet, and a lot of people have lower attack and 99 strenght, which means they can't hit very well against 99 def.

 

Well from a hybrid's point of view, they are really solid. If I have max melee and magic, using magic on a range tank is really hard since you can obviously still attack from a range and the magic defence bonus is hard to hit on. Only option left is melee, and most hybrids dont have amazing melee gear or vengeance on. To be honest, like everyone else said, zerker pures with turmoil/Cmaul might wreck you. That being said, avoid them and you will be rich from kills

 

They can't hit very well indeed, thus your chances to k0 (veng combo) are much lower.

I love bridding on my friend's tank. Tanks with ss are much more fun than rigour in my opinion. I personally just prefer curses no matter what. Tanks are great account to make. Just about nothing they can't do.

If your maxxed with rigour, yes it's pretty fun.

However your only true match is dh'ers and other mains. Zerks are a match if they ss but not much of one. The mains are only a match because of the even stats and actually having some def.

 

Simply yes, range tanks are still fun. It's not something a lot of people consider nowadays with dungeoneering involved but I like range tanks and personally have one myself. I must admit though I don't often go Pk with it. Which is positive in a way as it shows there's a lot more to do with a tank as well .
