Body Heats Up Right Before I Fall Asleep

Right before I fall asleep, I feel a rise of heat in my body temperature and I sometimes can't sleep because of it. So, I have to sleep with a wet towel on my body to cool me down.

    Why does this happen?

As the day progresses, the average person's body temperature rises.

This explains why there are so many people going into the doctor's office to report fevers towards the middle and end of the day.

If you are sick with a fever, take your temp in the morning and take it at night. You will notice a dramatic difference.

Tl;dr The change in temp is normal

Maybe it's because it's Summer and the temperate is extremely high....resulting in your body warming up? Sleep with a fan + your windows open like I do or have something cold with you to cuddle.

What I would do is take a really cold shower before bed and then right when you get into bed you will still be adjusting to the temperature.

Try taking a warm (yes, warm [but not hot]) shower/bath an hour before bed. This will open up your pours allowing your body to expel heat, as well as relax your muscles and make it easier to fall asleep.

If this is not normal for you and the air where you are is cool go to the doctor. This happened to me a few months ago. I kept getting a fever right before bed and it would fall after a few hours. Also the wet towel and drinking cold water helps. I cannot remember what I had but I had blood work done. Also before you go to the doctor take your temperature when you feel it rise. I hope this helps and you are ok.

Normally your body temperature lowers when you go to sleep? Does this happen all the time/often or is this just recent?

Normally, your body temperature decreases as you drift off to sleep. This occurs due to the secretion of melatonin into your body, which makes you sleepy and also reduces your core body temperature. Your rise in core body temperature could result from a fever.

Your core body temperature should not rise when you go to sleep. Most likely a flu.

    I'm sure that it's not a flu.
I tried falling asleep with a thermometer under my armpit and when I felt the heat, I checked it and it was pretty high.

But yeah; it drops when I'm asleep.

Seratonin is secreted into your body before you fall asleep. It is primarily why you fall asleep. Correlated with that, should be a decrease in core body temperature.

An increase to me suggests that you've got some sort of illness.

Taking a warm bath an hour for bed often helps when you're attempting to fall asleep, like malakadang said, you most likely have a fever.

If you're still worried, I'd visit your local GP

    Are you going through menopause?

All kidding aside, this happened to my ex all the time. She'd get burning hot right before she slept, and then cool down as she slept. It's natural in some people. The best advice I can give you is to keep your room cooler than the other rooms in the house if possible, and sleep with minimal blankets. A fever reducer before bed may help, but it doesn't sound like your body is having an immune reaction to something.

If you're sweating, try keeping a fan on you. That'll cool you off quickly.

Are you spending too much time in front of the pc? srs question... This has happened to me sometimes and most of the time was when i spent too much time in front of the pc, i stopped using the pc 3 hours before going to bed, or just searching forums/youtube videos but i did not play any games so my mind could relax, also take warm (not hot) showers, and eat 2-3 hours before going to bed. Also i started eating healthier and drinking more water, i don't know if this has anything to do with that but it never happened to me again after doing this.

If your sleeping with your duvet over you it's obvious you will get hotter from that, also just laying on a surface and on your pillow etc it's going to make you more hot as that will heat up too

If you have an air conditioning system in your room just use that and leave the temperature on around 20°C. After 15 minutes turn it off and make sure all of your doors/windows are closed. That works for me. :)
