How an artist changes over the years.

I find how artists change over the years very interesting, It feels like i'm in a time machine when I listen through cd's of people.

    Here is an example: (Eminem)
I urge you to listen to all of them and see the differences.

    Early 1990s:

    1996:

    1997:

    1998 / 1999:

    2000:

    2002:

    2004:

    2005:

    2006:

    2008:

    2009:

    2010:

    2011:

    It's truely insane, discuss.

Cool to see kind of how the style changes he goes from straight up adverse to a more changed person. It goes to show how his life has changed and what is really important to him. The thing i like about rap/hip hop is the artists who tell their story through their music. With an emotional connection to their fans that are going through similar situations. That's my opinion anyways.

Quite a noticeable difference, but IMO that even goes deeper to show how all music changes over such a short period of time.

^ That is also very true.

The world keeps changing, which means people keep changing, which means all art forms keep changing.

That's why one of my favorite sayings is "the only constant is change".

Like Wayne going from deep street material to 'How to Love' and skater stuff?

Edit: Is his music changing good or bad?

Why would you pick Lighters for 2011?

Anyways, Em is nearly 40 years old. It wouldn't look good if he was still singing through his Slim Shady ego and dissing people. As life moves on and changes, so does life. Eminem has had one hell of a life so obviously the music changes. You can't deny that his music is one of the best ever though.

Other rap artists however, completely change their music because they've run out of ideas to make money, so they go to their last resort.

I agree, listen to KiD CuDi and other rappers and they have changed drastially over the time, to the point where i dont even enjoy their music anymore. eminem is still good tho.

It's neither good or bad, and that's the only half decent song he does in 2011 (Haven't kept up to his music since BME album", the rest of the bad meets evil stuff doesn't really stand out as much.
    inb4mainstreamfag

Also I realize him doing the slim shady persona would be a bit strange. (That's why I somewhat dislike the bad meets evil album because he tried to do it again.)

He is one of the greatest, he was WAY ahead of his time and he still is.
I just thought it would be interesting to post some music from over the years to see how much his sound has changed.

Other artists now a days aren't as good, or as skilled as the veteran artists were.

Edit: Thanks you two for posting on the thread.

In the end it doesn't matter if they've changed good or bad because you can always go back to their other albums and enjoy.
    Their music will live on.

I was thinking of eminem as an example also.
Jay-Z, Big L , etc. they change because of the people.
back then there were hippies, goths, then hip-=hop,
