Adding RAM doesn't speed it up that much TBH.
I saw little performance gain when I upgraded a friends PC from 4 to 12, was a bit snappier when booting up, but nothing too big.

12gbs of RAM? Thats a bit much, and your processor hasn't maxed yet? What kind of processor do you have?

I can't stand slow RAM. Vengeance is also good for overclocking, assuming your motherboard supports the higher speeds.

 

Eh, can't tell too much difference with RAM, lower latency>mhz tho. I'd rather run like 1600 7-7-7-21 then 2133 9-9-9-27.

 

But if you can oc that 1600, then you're in business with a lower cost and something noticeably faster than say, something under 1000mhz. Speed will make a difference, but as you said, latency isn't anything to look over either.

 

Open task manager, check how much of your RAM is used. If its less than the RAM you used to have, you didn't really gain a whole lot. I'm curious what sort of programs you use that would have such a notable difference. Do you do a lot of graphics/video editing?

 

true true, ddr3s lowest is 1066, but 1333 is standard even in prebuilts. anything under 1066 is either ddr2 or ddr.
