Have you ever thought that the goverment is one big hoax and are putting on a show because they are just one big group of people that know they can tell most of us anything and we will believe it/do it? Please respond with answers.

 

Every government lies or keeps secrets, it just varies to what extent and if their motives are really for the good of the people. It also depends where you live.

 

In some countries [I believe] They're only informed on things on a need to know basis. I do also think that I wouldn't want to know everything that's happened with the country I lived in and done by the government.

I believe governments have secrets, but that it's all a hoax for power doesn't make sense to me. They are really smart people, and they know how to manipulate the society, but they will only be able to such an extend. That's why there are opposite parties (at least in Holland there are, I don't really know much about American Politics actually) who stand up against the decisions that are made by the people that have the power. And because everyone can be in a party it's really good for everyone.

 

This exactly. US gov't knows that majority of the population is ignorant and brainwashed. It clearly works!

if you want, you can trace almost all government figures to elections where they were voted in by people (some of which know what they are voting for)

now if you want to talk about ways that they manipulate us into voting them into office, that is a whole different story.

 

I think they have there secrets but for the most part are legit. Well, they are legit actually. We might not know some things but I trust them for the most part

I always find this inspiring in a way, as it's true. Governments without people are nothing.​

 

I think in this bunch of corrupt politicians some good politicians also being over shadowed..

 

Sure there's corruption, scandal, secrecy, lying, cheating, and stealing. But that is built on a reasonably sturdy and transparent foundation. The idea of government in and of itself is not a hoax. There may be plenty of hoaxes within the government, but the government as a whole is not a hoax.

I think that regularly. Everything about politics leaves room for an ulterior motive and those that think they wouldn't take any chance they can get to be on top are severely mistaken.

 

Government. Good idea, but it's run by humans. Human Nature, and the inherent tendency to trample over someone is the sole reason why governments will never be liked by the people.

With the recent Carbon Tax implementation however, in Australia, I was really flummoxed as to how stupid the Government thinks the people really are, and how destructive the policy is.

 

While there are government secrets withheld from the average citizens, I do not think they have (yet) crossed all of the boundaries.

I always thought it was weird how they control every level of the legal system though.. They could kill somebody, and nobody would ever know who did it. Who would expose them? The police officers who work for them? The judges who work for them? The FBI? They just control so much, it's strange to think what's possible.

It's natural to think this; it helps keep the democracy maintained and the representatives honest.
I've thought about it, but it doesn't make logical sense. I'm sure some things are hidden, but all of the largest conspiracy theories (which are all small compared to what you are alleging) wouldn't make sense because of the amount of people who would have had to be involved and then controlled/killed afterwords.
