Not allowing Teamviewer

Well, ive always heard from people about them getting virus's e.t.c. sent through teamviewer, or the person using it to hack accounts. While ive always heard stories like that, it seems quite common on here for many members (especially new members) to make posts for such things as membership pin's, codes e.t.c. to say that they will not go first and will only do the trades through teamviewer. I find this a huge security risk to members and think it would be in everyone's interest to not allow Teamviewer to be used for any and all trades.

Just giving my views, and would like to hear your opinions on this. Just to add when i was admin on a different trading site we never allowed such things because of the security factor.

 

Team Viewer is safe, you just have to know what your doing on it. Set your setting so nobody can fuck with you lol There was a tut on here a while back on how to use team viewer safely, ill see if i can find it.

 

Fiddling with the TV settings doesn't always protect you from hackers/scammers.

 

No support whatsoever. There has been many cases while Middlemanning trades where team viewer has come in handy. Some people do not feel safe with me logging in so I will upgrade their account with team viewer and the same thing with applying gift card balance. Also to verify that people received money from paypal if one party is lying I will use teamviewer to check. Teamviewer is a very important tool and is only dangerous if the person using it is not smart enough to know how to use it properly and who to trust with it.

 

If you know what you're doing, it's perfectly safe.


As with anything, you could use that argument with banning PayPal, because of people claiming back after you've traded back the rsgp.
If you know how to use it, you won't get scammed/hacked whatever.

I think it should be allowed, but stay as it is; in no way required.

 

Although I like the idea of it, I think it should NOT BE ALLOWED in gold TYPE SELLINGS (aka "Verifying the gold via TV")

 

Just like anything else use at your own risk I sometime's ask members to use teamviewer for various things and believe me it's a useful program. If you don't trust the person enough then don't let them use it why do we need a rule for this?

Lol teamviewer warns you when you download it plus if we had to warn everyone about everything we mine as well tell them "beware of the internet!"

Yeah, but many people get scammed by them. I set up Teamviewer with MOUSE AND KEYBOARD CONTROL OFF, and the guy was still able to control it (in which i couldnt).
Teamviewer is a great program for entering pins and whatnot, but it should NOT be allowed in the Gold Market.

 

No support. I've never used Teamviewer, and probably never will. You can prevent yourself from being scammed in any situation, and from what I hear, Teamviewer does come in handy in some cases.

 

No support, I've MMed several trades where teamviewer works great. I would however support a sticky be made about what can happen through teamviewer, and not to trust a newcomer on teamviewer.

 

I don't support this. You don't have to use it you don't like it.

 

No support. You just have to know how to use it and who to use it with. Teamviewer has helped me with countless amount of moderator related things.

It's optional. If some users don't want to use it in some areas, no ones forcing them. On the other hand, some user would like to use Teamviewer in those certain areas.

 

Just don't use T V with newcomers and you should be fine.

There's a new thing called Join.me its way better than teamviewer, if you're not the host you don't need to download a thing to view the other person's computer screen, and you can even chat and have control of the person's computer.

I don't ever use team viewer because I don't know anything about it and would be one of the dumb people who get scammed using it.

 

I agree with Scottayy. I remember when I used him as my middleman (first middleman I ever used for a trade lol) for a gift card trade and I didn't want to give him my amazon.com login so he applied the gift card to my account via teamviewer. It comes in handy with someone trustworthy like Scottayy.

 

I don't think the answer is necessarily stopping it completely but instead, perhaps attempting to educate people that TeamViewer will not always be safe.
