    Colleges in the UK

Can anyone enlighten me on a few facts about colleges in the UK? First off, what's the cost for a decent medical school? The University of Washington-- the school I plan on going to if I win the ROTC scholarship-- is nearly 48,000 a year with room and board. Second, can anyone attend or are there strict rules concerning immigrants/non-citizens? Lastly, are the degrees you earn at those schools recognized by American businesses and professionals? (I ask because my Mandarin teacher at community college told us about a Russian friend whose medical degree wasn't honored in America, and I'd like to move back if I decide to go to a European school)

Here in England we prefer the term University.

Anyone can attend, but obviously grades are required and I don't doubt you will qualify well.

About the degrees I am not so sure, but are you planning to opt for a Bachelor degree or a Master degree? (three and five years)
    If not which degree?

I have a Russian teacher who gained a master degree in Russia, he then moved to America and they said it is not the same as their master degree, even though I am certain universities in Russia are much tougher than those in the USA.

You would be treated well in the UK/Europe and there should be no strict rules concerning non-citizens.

Great information, thanks yo, do you know generally how much tuition is?

I'm going for a doctorate in anesthetics by the way, so if my credits from the college I'm going to now transfers to an English university, I'd only need another 6 years of schooling

If you go to a university in England, and you live in the UK, the maximum tuition fee is £9000 a year. For overseas students, I'm not sure about the fees but it is considerably higher, around £15,000 a year I think. Accommodation is provided at most campuses for an extra cost.

I don't know much about the system since I don't go to university, but I heard that medical courses are some of the hardest to get into, you will have a lot of competition with students from asia and eastern Europe.

My life recently has been nothing but competition for selective schools and scholarships haha, but I think the work I've done to ensure at least a fighting chance will get me pretty far... unless England says fuck you to all my American-standard efforts :>

Competition is everywhere, but what's up with the people fighting to get into a medical school (when someone said it was the hardest course to get in)?

There's a fight to get into medical school because it's the best career path to have as far as money and status.

I personally attending sixth form, which i think in some ways has some strong points over going to college, you still got all your old friends and people you know still with you at school, and also teachers that you may get on with or find teach you well :)

Did you read the post at all, or are you just posting for your count? You didn't answer any of the questions I put in the OP.
