I'll keep this short and to the point:

You know the saying "time flies when you're having fun?" My brother has a theory that when people experience that feeling, they're actually experiencing time travel. I think it's total BS, due to the fabrics of time not actually being changed, but I want your opinions.

    Thanks :)

You can travel time. Time is the fourth dimension.

The 'time flies when you're having fun' refers to the psychological phenomena called 'time distortion'. Sometimes, when your brain is in a different state of consciousness, it will experience such time distortion.

If your referring to real time-travel, yes, that is possible but to a degree, it's mostly theoretical at the moment, and the practical side of things are so minute that modern technology cannot meet the necessary requirements.

If your referring to time distortion, then, time itself isn't moving any quicker, only your perception pertaining to time elapsed has changed.

I made that same argument to him. He said that time is a man-made thing, and doesn't actually "exist" technically, so time distortion is time travel.

Time is not a man made thing, time is the changing rates between matter, it moves at a consistent rate of 1 second per second. If you can accelerate that rate, you can travel time.

Whoever you made that argument against obviously has no idea what their talking about. Time did not exist before the Big Bang, after the Big Bang, time got reset, or begun at 0.

Time is simply the fourth dimension.

I wouldn't call it time travel since everyone else is moving through time at the same rate you are, so you're not bodily advancing in time at an altered rate. It would be more likely a chemical imbalance in the brain, causing your perception of the passing time to be distorted. Tryptophan is a naturally produced chemical that's present during sleep, so it's entirely possible that the presence can alter your perception. Adrenaline is produced during activity; again, possibly able to alter your perception. Who knows what kind of chemicals are pumping through a person in a near-death experience, but you get tons of reports of people going through the experience at an altered rate of time. People under the influence of marijuana have poor perception of time because of the chemical imbalance. Next time you're with someone who's high (and you being sober, or it'd defeat the purpose!) tell them to close their eyes, count to 30, and raise their hand. Police issuing the same test generally only have to wait several seconds before they raise their hand

So I believe it's not possible for someone to bodily move through time as if it were space, but your mind has the ability to perceive time as it wills.

time slows when you are moving closer to the speed of light. time also slows when you are closer to a large body of gravity, say a black hole. both of these have been proved/tested and Einstein also discussed both of these at length.

I agree with your brother, i wouldn't say its time travel its more like speeding up time, its a mental thing your brain can do. Also to slow down time i believe its mentals as well but simply look at a clock when your sober.

Time is pretty specific but I think everyone can "feel" time differently. One day you might think lasts forever while others are very fast. Basically It is an unconstant constant :O

It is all about how busy you are, if you can look at the clock every 2 minutes then of course it is going to go slow.

If you can't wait for the day to end, that is all you are going to think about and it will seem slow.

But if you are busy working all day, without looking at the time or having a concept of how much has gone past, it appears to go by faster.

It is all where you are mentally, but time does not physically move any faster or slower.

Tell your brother I said he should stop doing homo.

It will seem that the time 'flies by', but like stated in previous posts: It's a state of mind and the perception that you have on the time at that moment.

You can actually travel through time, but only theoretically. IF you were to travel through time you would be travelling faster than the speed of light. Due to recent experiments they are almost certain that is not possible. Thy took a single photon and made it go as fast as it could go. That photon couldn't go faster than the speed of light and therefor it is proven that nothing else can go as fast as light, thus time travelling is impossible.

Time travel is theoretical. It, currently, isn't possible, and probably never will be.
Like Quackism said, they done tests on tiny things, nevermind Humans or Giant Spaceships, and it has been impossible.
Also, even the theoretical idea of Time Travel isn't actually Time Travel. It is merely witnessing old events due to light not catching up to your eyes quick enough, and therefore you actually haven't travelled in time, only missed the present for a couple of seconds.

    Hafele Keating Experiment.

Unless I'm missing something, it does show that time change does occur.

Your interpretation of time is changing, but time is not. I would guess that if your brain is working faster (not just thinking more, but actually interpreting ideas and analyzing faster), then time seems to pass slower, and vice versa. You can't manipulate time by thinking about it, that's simply illogical.

It is simply time distortion even if time travel were possible we are nowhere near meeting the technology needed to do so. Time has always existed and by that I mean since the beginning of the universe however the measurement of time I suppose is man made. From seconds to years all those measurements were made by men to help them understand the length of time that has passed, is passing or will come to pass.
