    Possible way to lessen scammers

If you use a trusted OMM, or you trade with a very trusted member.
If you do not go first to less trusted people, if you do not use paypal for money in your trades.

You wont be scammed, the only thing you can be scammed is buying accounts.
Which is why only buy accounts from trusted members.

I don't want any information about me on the internet, and i'm sure a lot of people are the same. Simply trading on Sythe shouldn't require ID, that's just dumb.

I like this idea, but I have a suggestion to it.

They should also have merchant ranks for people who trade over 1000$ on the marketplace, with a minimum of 15 vouches.
This could also help. But ID would def be harder to fake.

    Very interesting idea.

Although as Nano stated in a previous post, providing that type of information over the internet could be too much.

But as you stated yourself, the pros outweigh the cons and I support this idea.

It would take a reasonable amount of time to set up, and as others have said, I'm not too comfortable sharing my ID with strangers on a forum.

I support this idea. With an additional idea. Make the thread that you would post the info in blocked to everyone except the admins and mods incharge of the process that way you are still keeping your info concealed to everyone else and if there is a scam the admins and mods would be able to access the info and take the appropriate actions.

That's a nice suggestion, posting it in a private section, although I would assume you'd have to PM an Admin.

I honestly have no problem giving out my ID to an Admin. I think you should have two pieces of ID so you can correlate the two together.

    Edit: Support.

I don't understand why people are spamming that they are uncomfortable sharing their ID. This suggestion, if applied, is NOT mandatory therefore people who just post saying "uncomfortable sharing their ID" and not post an alternative or a better suggestion should stop trying to increase their post count.

No support. I would never share my personal information over the internet let alone a screen shot of a piece of my ID. The sensitivity of this information should not be readily available for anyone including staff. I do understand that this could be non mandatory but ultimately this could lead to the demise of future trades with people that are uncomfortable with sharing this information. Identity theft being the main issue and possibly of someone making fraudulent accounts with your personal information. I am not saying the staff would do this in anyway but the risk is far greater then the rewards involved in my personal opinion.

Everyone that has said no support have mentioned "identity theft" (don't quote me on that but it is what i have seen) All you are providing is a picture of you, your name, and your sythe name. there is nothing sensitive about it. and people wouldn't be able to make a fraudulent account with your info because they picture has your sythe name in it.

which brings me back to my suggestion of: making the thread, where this info, is posted private. So nobody except mods and admins are able to view it. Thus allowing the ignorant little 12 year olds, that think people can steal their identity from a name and a picture, some peace at mind.

once again i give this my full support and will fight for it.

Ok well in the original post you put a valid form of ID which would be a drivers licence or something so I am responding to your OP. Number two what would having a picture of someone with their name and Sythe name do besides invade their privacy? Please elaborate.

With someones name, and their picture. You can find out everything about them. Where they live, their number, their schools, their family members.

It invades privacy, doesn't matter WHO I would be giving the info to. It still boils down to it being a non secure site which always leaves possibilities. (It's not the same as using a credit card I'm implying)

The virtual world should never cross over to IRL world no matter what it is.

How will it lead to a murder of a scammer? That doesn't make any sense what so ever.

You know that nothing on the internet is private, right? You can always be traced by your IP and other information. Your logic is flawed.

If someone doesn't have the intentions of scamming, then they will not have any problem with doing this.

Well did you know that if you trace an IP it goes back to the ISP's server location not your house. If I trace my IP it goes to a city 4 hours away so... IP tracing not so much make sure you know what you are talking about.

^ this what are you going to do with a photo of someone and their real name really.... Give me the logic behind what a picture of a Sythe user and their name is going to do and how in any way, shape, or form it would protect another user.
