Strange friends list bug - what could it mean?

Today I logged into one of my oldest characters and on the friends list I saw an interesting name: "#Friend0". I have seen many names like "[#8287165421]" which are people who had their name deleted by Jagex. Anyone else seen "#Friend0" or have any idea what it is?

I have seen a thread on this someone else on Sythe. Search for it.

 

As far as I know, they had an illegal name (profanity, multi spaced, etc) and Jagex changed it themselves.

 

I do think it was probably caused by inactivity, and account deletion

It probably has something to do with a reset of some sort; maybe we'll be seeing more of it in the future?

No. I had my account recently banned and the username reset. Even while it was banned the name was set to the string of numbers; [#4324324324].

 

It could just be a glitch? The friends list server has been historically horrible ever since Runescape came out.

 

What happened was... You probaby added someone that didn't actually exist.

What I mean by this is: Before name changes came out, you could add ANYTHING to your friends list...

Hi
Your fat
thanks for the gp
I hacked you.


Or something like that, and since those people don't exist, jagex did the #friend0, #friend1, etc.

 

Actually yes; I logged in yesterday on an inactive account and had an account on my friends list named that.

I didn't think much of it, and just removed him from friends' list lol

 

This reminds of the time you could add yourself and pm yourself haha

 

It's probably a banned then unbanned inactive account. Or a new type of reset name.

 

Nope, this is for inactive accounts that had their name reset and someone sniped it.

When you sign in to one of these accounts, before you moved you are asked to make a new display name.

 

Ummm, this is only an idea out there, maybe #freind0 is some part of the code for the friends list servers. With it being "#friend0" maybe the next one down is "#friend1" and so forth. Or maybe jagex added symbols to names and he just changed it to that! Just an idea... :/

Its for someone thats names been taken or they had an offensive one and when they log in theyll have to change it.
