Think everyone's safe. I'm hearing Jagex really can't do shit about it.

Jagex has to do this in order to keep the legit players in the game, it's pretty sad when you nearly lag out on f2p worlds because of spammers/etc. I'm sorry but Jagex is not going to go to court / trace personal information over a terrible game all based on Java which anyone can write by spending a few hours researching on Google,Youtube etc. The moral of the story is, they can't, won't and haven't done anything they "claim" they're going to do. It's all bull to keep legit players in the game.

To everyone saying that they can't track you down with just your PayPal address, couldn't they get your IP from the records as well? Then all they would need to do is cross reference accounts using that IP. The only question is whether or not the IP information will be stored on PayPal's servers, or the bot retailer. If they do somehow get a hold of the IPs, I have a feeling a lot of us are fucked.

From a privacy stand point, we accept that Jagex has the right to hold certain information, however we have never given anyone privacy access to our IP addresses in terms of botting or botting websites. Even if we did, Jagex would have to reconfirm a new TOS on those botting sites that we would have to click accept in order to obtain our information. Also, if you use an unsigned version of a bot then they would have to truly back trace it. Also, people play from around the world, and if they attempt to track IP addresses, then the privacy concerns and problems for Jagex would be unbelievably high, and most likely result in lawsuits of violation of privacy rights. The cost for doing all that to ban a maybe 50 thousand people would be so exhorbitant, that Jagex would most likely go bankrupt in the process, so they really have no way to counter botting currently.
