Illegal Drugs

Maybe the government keeps marijuana illegal to:
-Bring profit to the drug cartels/gangs
-Make the criminals rich off a booming market
-Make crime rates go up, due to criminals having more cash from drugs.
-Spend taxpayers' money on the "War on Drugs"
-Build more prisons to incarcerate "criminals" that were caught with a plant.
-Keep peoples' interest in their drugs; tobacco and alcohol.
-Keep the Nation healthier (In the United States, McDonalds does more harm than Marijuana by a lot)


Drugs put into the same category as marijuana: Heroin, PCP, Cocaine, Codeine, OxyContin
The drugs listed above are very dependent and do not have siimilar effects as marijuana. However, they find themselves in the same category.

It just keeps people in the system is all.

But seriously, we should follow Portugal's example.

 

Illegal drugs aren't all illegal for that reason. Many of the drugs that are illegal but still recreational are perfectly safe and not harmful. Things like LSD for example, aren't a health risk they just have no medical uses currently.
