    Airsoft

So I'm getting into airsoft with my girlfriend's brother and his friends pretty soon. I've decided on being a sniper since our team is full of assault rifles and could really use someone to hang back and give support. I could really use some suggestions for gear. I only have about $200 to put into this and that has to cover the gun, some BBs, and a facemask or some sort of eye protection.

I'm leaning towards getting something like this:
    AGM/JG APS2 Type96 Airsoft Sniper Rifle
    http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_48&products_id=28052

The gun is $90, with the scope and bipod it comes to $145. I was kind of hoping to get a full metal gun but in this price range I can't really expect that I guess. Anybody have any better suggestions for this price range? Must include scope, bipod not necessary but highly preferred. I already have a cheap pistol to use as a side arm until I can afford to buy an SMG or something for CQB.

    Also... general airsoft thread.

why play airsoft... paintball is 10 times better cause when you play airsoft the little balls fly away in the wind and you have to stand 5 feet away for it to hurt

Tbh this isn't a paintball topic, gtfo. My friends play airsoft. I'm not gonna get into something that I wind up doing by myself.. boring. Also, paintball is way god damn more expensive than airsoft is (I already said I'm on a budget). I'd also like to see you get shot by a good airsoft rifle and tell me it doesn't hurt even from like 25-50 feet lol, unless you wear some kind of body armor or some shit it'll still sting pretty good. I don't want to play to hurt people or get hurt either, so that doesn't even matter to me.

To be honest that gun strikes me as being particularly cheap. You probably won't be tapping into any quality guns below $150, and that's most likely without a scope. But, limited resources are a factor, so I understand you won't be getting anything spectacular.

With your $200 in mind, here is what I believe is your best option:
(For whatever reason it won't let me link this, so just go to www.shortyusa.com -> Spring Rifles -> find)

    1. ECHO 1 ASR Spring Airsoft Sniper Rifle

The gun's $114.99 on sale and $8.99 for shipping. I can't tell if the scope in the picture comes with it, so if not, you could add on -> THIS <- scope for $30 + $2 S/H.

This still leaves you with more than enough money for ammo or any extra add ons you'd like to purchase. In my experience, basic safety glasses worked just fine as face protection (save your money and invest it into your gun!). Anyways, hopefully this helped a bit. Overall that website has some pretty good guns for pretty low prices. Have fun airsofting with your friends!

You've obviously only used cheap guns. High quality airsoft guns shoot faster than paintball, but just have smaller bb's so might not hurt quite as bad. Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Infact, if you get shot from close enough, it will easily puncture skin. Also airsoft guns look a million times better in every way.

I wouldn't recommend buying a sniper rifle for your first gun, especially without a good back up weapon. I would go with a KWA Mac 11 Gas Blowback to start. You can use propane instead of green gas which saves a lot of money. It's a really fun gun and the rate of fire is great.

If you want to save up a little bit, then you should consider getting a Tokyo Marui MP5k AEG. Also a very fun gun and great for CQB. There are a lot of cheap and decent lower quality AEG's out there that you can get for around $150. I would recommend that you just save up though and go with a Classic Army or Tokyo Marui.

Thanks for the suggestions.. though I think I'll still be going with a sniper to start with. The little team of friends we have has all agreed we need someone with a bit more range and since I'm joining we all agree that I might as well take up that role. I've played around with a friend's spring sniper before, it's actually quite maneuverable at mid range. Close range I'll be fucked though. I'll play a max of one or two wars before I can afford a halfway decent electric gun though. Not going for gas because I honestly CBF to keep up with it and I won't have to keep spending money to keep up with it except for BBs, which if I'm using a sniper as a primary, will last me practically forever even with a small 5,000 pack for $10. Also one of my friends has like an arsenal of guns, I'm sure he'll lend me a cheap gun to use in the meantime as a backup.
