[Question]Why do people blurr their stats out?

I'm abit of a newcommer here, 4 sucessful trades done
But my biggest question is, when people are selling accounts, whats the point in crossing out some of your stats?? I don't see the big issue, Its not like they know your original RSN. If you wanted, well If I wanted, I could shout my pass on RS, and nobody can do anything(I wouldn't do something that idiotic) but they don't know my original RSN to go change it.
So, Why do people blur their stats?

 

I know it sounds crazy but Jagex can look up those stats and find out potentially what account is in the picture. I'm assuming by looking at the location and if you leave a letter out in your name, there's a chance you'll get banned. Long story short, it's just for some security measures.

 

You couldn't shout out your password, Jagex won't let you (srs).

It's because you could find the account on the highscores based on the stats, it's kind of a safety/paranoia/people sell other people doing it so do it themselves. It's protection from Jagex banning them, even though it's highly unlikely. Could also stop ripping since only they would have the original screenshot

 

The stats might lead to the display name.

 

They're a bunch of foolish people that think Jagex will bann their accounts just cause they're on Sythe. There's no evidence for sucha things has happen, or will ever happen.

 

Actually there is, I remember seeing a thread about a guy getting banned because of him using sythe and posting a picture of his account on it or something like that.

 

That's craptalk and just some kid that was hunting for postcount and reactions on Sythe, I've been speaking to a lot of Jmods and they are just some normal guys and not FBI Agents that's searching for Sythe users.

 

MAYBE jagex can look up that account.
just say ur acc has 99 fletching, 20 prayer and 45 defence.

theyll look up every account that has that stats, and look for sudden ip change when the trade is done. and ban

i see what your mean, but the thing is, i dont think you could ever get banned on runescape for posting pictures on sythe claiming to be selling it.

imagine i started a thread, selling the account "zezima" with nothing blurred, genuine looking screen shots. do you honestly think they would go ban his account?

what im trying to say is, anybody could find screenshots of someone's account off the internet, and post it on sythe, pretending to be selling it, if jagex truely did ban people for selling their accounts on sythe, SO MANY people would be raging on runescape/sythe because their accounts are getting banned, because someone was posting screenshots on here.

jagex wouldnt be able to prove that the actual owner of the account was selling the account, and not just some imposter/joker.

 

Yea, it really doesn't do much.

If you look through some of my older threads, I used to post pictures of my main without censoring anything. Of course, I wouldn't admit to botting that account in the same thread as I have the name openly visible in, but other than that I just behaved like normal.

I did not receive a ban, of course. That would have been silly.

 

I think they just do it for safety precautions. I mean how can one identify the account if they do not know the name nor all of the stats. But even if they blur out the stats there are so many account with the same levels that it would be quite pointless.

 

It's pure for the fact that it is harder to indentify which account is in the picture.
A bunch of people, including me, thinks JaGeX is looking around Sythe, which seems obvisiously.
It's just for the safety of the account you're selling.
Still, i do not think it helps alot, but it helps a bit.

 

I agree with Bl0w Ranq its better to be safe and take all the precautions you can so that you don't get banned.

showing all your stats could have jagex easily find you're account. so just blocking out a couple stats is that much more protection

 

the user "dave." was banned on runescape for running a gold selling thread... Probably because some fag reported him to jagex.

There really is NO need... I usually cross out one or two skills, that are extremely low, and wouldn't change the value... just so people don't find the account in the highscores :O

It is possible to discover an account simply through it's stats.
