We at Jagex are keenly aware of the botting issues within RuneScape and know how disruptive they can be to our game. Whether it’s using a macro program to control an account or power levelling, it’s safe to say that it’s something that we’re all united in fighting and from the support you give us on the forums, in game and when we meet face to face, it’s crystal clear that it’s something that you; the RuneScape community, also feel very strongly about.

That’s why today we want to take a few moments to reaffirm our dedication to the removal of bots and cheats from RuneScape.

We are constantly looking into ways of making the game experience the very best possible for all of our players and as part of our on-going programme to rid the game of bots, Jagex is actively pursuing companies that support the macroing market as well as those who bot. As such we are currently pursuing various bot developers through multiple legal channels, although sadly we cannot yet disclose the full details of our actions for legal reasons. Separately, as part of normal legal process and procedure, we have also taken steps to acquire the details of all players who have purchased bots.
Once we have the information regarding the players involved we will take action specifically to ensure that these players are not compromising the game’s integrity through the use of a third party programs. We are committed to undertaking various initiatives to identify players and companies who are using and distributing bots within RuneScape and will endeavour to inform you all of these efforts as we can.
In the meantime, be safe, don’t fall to the dark side and we look forward to the positive outcomes of our actions ultimately making the game experience a better one for everyone.

Opinions? I highly doubt they will bother getting our information if we bought bots even if they could lol. As for taking down botting companies haven't they been trying to do this for years? Jagex seems to just be making up more lies to keep the legit players happy imo.


Edit: Just saw another one of these threads sorry guys some1 beat me to it. A mod can close this if they would like too lol.

 

LMAO, Fagex trying to scare botters again. My god that company fails bad, i bet that nothing happens for atleast another year and at that stage they will post the exact same message but say they are getting a bit closer than last time.

 

If they get my details and ban me for it then i will sue as im pretty sure it is against the law for them to find out our details.

 

You'll sue them, for banning you because you broke a rule on their game, yeah... makes sense.

 

Isn't there some privacy law thing about gathering details about a person?

You guys will not be able to sue anyone. There are laws that protect our privacy. Therefore Jagex will never win a case.

 

jagex trys so hard to scare us, they never do shit, if they ban botters they will lose mega profit.

Also, im quite sure those websites which are selling and hosting these bots, are off shore so jagex will not be able to do anything?

 

Jagex makes these announcements all the time.

Wow lol, id like to see the outcome of what they're doing i wouldn't put it past them tbh to try and get our details.

They're just trying to get some PR for their legit players...

They don't dare touch paying members that bot.

 

Lmfao. I personally don't even think jagex cares that people bot, as long as they're getting membership money.

 

I think eventually they will start to ban the botters. Because there will be no more legit players left.

 

Every time they ban a bot, 5 new bots have been made... So this is like mission impossible for them ;p
