Report a Scammer assistants

Chances are this has been thought of or suggested before but I think it's worth the try.

To help ease the workload for moderators in the RaSc section I think a few "assistants" could be appointed. Basically, the only power they have is posting permissions in the RaSc. They are appointed to read through the reports for the moderators which is obviously quite time consuming and come to a logical conclusion or verdict so that all a global would have to do is ban the user (where necessary, of course) and/or lock & close the thread. It's helpful in the fact that it cuts down time moderators have to spend reviewing reports, easing their workload ever so slightly. I can already think of a few active reporters capable of such a position.

I feel as if, more people are needed to help in the Spam reports. They are very time consuming considering the bulk amount of members trying to get their post count up. Since doing spam reports is most likely easier than doing scam reports, more people should help out there, so the bigger gun's can take care of the RaSc section more swiftly.

Sounds like a good idea, but doesn't that take away like half of the moderating? I mean, moderators do a lot of stuff, but most hang around in the RaSc section quite often. They really enjoy it too! It really is a 'moderator' kind of thing, and the mods were appointed because they know how to handle things like this. Everyone capable of keeping the Assistant rank will be able to keep a moderator rank. In that case, it'd be more like a 'moderator trial' kind of thing.

Stress on behalf of moderators are unbearing, especially with all the reports and reported posts aswell.

Giving users the power to go through scam reports would be great. I think they should have to meet a quota (5 reports a day), and could maybe also look into ban appeals aswell, and have their say?

This would greatly reduce the time needed by mods checking EVERY single ban evader, scam post.

I don't think you're allowed to suggest ranks but I don't like it either... scammers are a priority on this website, and I'd like to see something similar to this, but they'd have to have more rights... checking IPs and user history is usually important in these things.

It's always a fun task looking into these things, though it takes time =[.

 

I truly do like this suggestion. However, with this comes the possibility of extreme corruption. No support from me. :\

I like this idea a lot, but what happens with disputes? Are the assistants allowed to post on them as well?

 

I went through about 10 scam reports, and sent my conclusion to each one, to Wulfspade and Firez.
They were dealt with accordingly with the same outcome that I had given them.

 

This would be a good idea imo, but i doubt it will happen. Something i do think that would be kinda cool is if there was a poll on each scam report, and we could vote Guilty, or not Guilty lol Just my thoughts

 

The Problem with this is, many of the reports require judgement based on sensitive information not divulged to the general community, such as IP address and the like. Additionally, this might create a problem when you allow non-mods to have power that can easily be corrupted. :/

 

I understand where you're coming from but you must also understand that they are not essentially going to the give the power to any one so when you use the term non-mods you'd have to comprehend that those people were infact chosen By Mods.

You have to realize that the process for selecting these assistants would probably be just as tedious as a mod; additionally anyone who we felt worthy to be in that position would more than likely already be looked at for a staff position anyways. When it comes down to it though, it is mod powers for non staff members, which is, as far as the administration is concerned, a big no no.
