    Windows 7 Help...

I have a laptop (inspiron 1525) running windows 7. After powering it down, it would not boot back up, it would only boot to startup repair, and fail to repair. There's no option to restore to factory defaults, it will not boot to safe mode, and system restore is useless as well. I have tried using the installation CD to re-install, and clean install, but I get the error

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

I have no idea which drive it's talking about, and a few times it actually started to install but stopped on expanding windows files and said it was missing/had a corrupt file, and I've tried using 2 separate installation discs. Please help me I have no idea how to get this laptop working again, and I have no writeable discs left, just a 300gb external hard drive, and another laptop that is working running windows 7 (also an inspiron 1525)..

    Post here please. Thanks.

It sounds like a hardware error, my guess would be the hard drive. If I were you I would have a professional take a look at it and see if you could get a quote. Try searching around in Google, too (assuming you haven't already).

    -edit-

From the reviews I've read about that laptop, it's a real piece of shit - and there have been other reports of hardware malfunctions. Sounds like it's a bust, try giving Dell a call, though.

It's not just the model, I've been reading up on it. Some people say taking out memory chips help, others say actually putting a certain driver (the one it says is missing) on a flash drive/external and browsing for it will fix the problem, others just use a new disc.. :l

Call Dell for support and tell the them the situation in detail. They will help you with it.
