    Spelling and Grammar

I don't really care. I type naturally, and put in punctuation where I feel appropriate. I won't judge someone so ferociously for having poor spelling, grammar, or even abbreviating things. Only in rare cases will I shake in despair at the education system when people type wholeheartedly like they text.

For the most part, I honestly don't care. type how u wan it dun mat.

It's too mundane. Don't put words in my mouth. That was an awful way to get an argument.

I do feel it's somewhat important. I use the best spelling/grammar anywhere I go, even on the Internet.

I do not think punctuation is so important as you said. we just need to let us know what we are talking about and what we mean. do not need so many punctuation for the sake of the structured sentence and paragraph

The first part was a joke. The second part was a generalization, it wasn't targeted at you. The third part was more or less a joke. My apologies if you thought I was attacking you.

Although I believe that spelling and grammar is important, I don't get over-annoyed when people mess up. I only get irritated when I can't understand someone.

However, I still find myself correcting others (which isn't a good habit at all, trust me!), and I have to try to stop myself almost every time someone I know/care about uses bad grammar.

I hate it when people type "belive" instead of believe. It annoys me to a point I can't bare.

This thread is a joke. More than half the post are poking fun at one another, correcting each other, or personal annoyances. No debate. -_-

I'll use text language for texting, other than that I usually type with correct spelling and grammar.

I can't stand when people decide to 'i luffz u babez mwah kissez sexci' type like that. WHAT ARE YOU -- 10?

I read an article that you can read a word if the first and last letters are the same, and the word isn't overly long.

i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno’t mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae.. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt! if you can raed tihs forwrad it

I was able to read that without any problems, just as fast as I would with any document.

However, I still believe in using correct spelling, besides when I'm texting.
Just makes you seem more 'professional' if you will, probably not the most suitable word, but whatever.

While some posts contain corrections of others, most still have something constructive in them, thus still adding to the thread.

I still use correct spelling and punctuation when I text, but maybe that's just me. To be honest, it annoys me when people use abbreviations and "txt" versions of words even when they're sending a text message. I can see longer words, or if you don't have a lot of time to respond, but when people always use "u" for "you", and "2" for "to", it bugs me.

This thread is mainly focused on people whose first language is English, but still have horrible grammar and spelling.

I'd express my agreement with this post, going further to say that we, as humans, all have individual strengths and weaknesses. Some of us are artists, some of us vocalists, some of us writers, and some of us gymnasts. Words and letters do not flow with ease for some, and I think the only appropriate response to that is understanding and consideration that we all have individual flaws. The extent to which a person can use spelling & grammar effectively is, in my opinion, irrelevant when considering their intelligence.

I think the most important part is to be UNDERSTANDABLE. I don't care if you forget a full stop, as long as I get it. That's the most important thing; being understandable. Some people are having a hard time to learn English, and it can be really annoying to have someone correcting you every minute.

Spelling and grammar are important. When I post on forums, I try to maintain high quality grammar and spelling, however, when I am on tc or in the spam forum, it lacks sometimes, as I type faster than usual, making mistakes.

I agree with this. I always try to type to the best of my knowledge. Writing slang and abbreviated words promotes bad writing skills on the internet and in real life.
