    Trading via Facebook

This may sound really crazy and out there, but it is possible the best way to trade. There are a number of problems with using msn to trade (chatlogs, glitches, easy to hack), leading to enormous number of problems for people - and a number of these problems can be fixed by trading with facebook.

    Point 1)

Since Sythe doesn't allow chatlogs as proof there is no real way to report people for account recovery and be effective (plus other scams).

With the update of facebook chat everything you type chat box is automatically saved into your message history - which can be accessed anywhere you log in. These logs can't be edited like msn logs and can't be deleted (to my knowledge). They provide an around the clock of proof which can be accessed by anybody who logs in (if a mod feels they're fake they can log in and read them from the source).

To sum up this point: You always have proof on a trade happened since the logs can't be deleted.

    Advantages:
    • Always have chat logs
    • Can't be faked
    • Can be on multiple computers
    • Around the clock access to them
    • Easy to verify
    Disadvantages:
    • Problem with being blocked and verifying the real person scammed you (yet to test/find a solution).

    Point 2)

Glitches in msn can be frustrating and annoying to death. Appearing offline and other glitches, such as blocking people as you add them/they add you can lead to a downfall of trading as you're always offline to them.

There aren't many glitches in facebook besides... well... none I can think of at the moment. So adding people, appearing online/offline, and other problems you have with msn is fixed by using facebook. Not to mention gui layout of talking to people easier.

    Advantages:
    • No glitches (currently)
    • Fixed pretty quickly (when there are some)
    Disadvantage:
    • None?

    Point 3)

Hacking of msn's accounts can be easily done with some general knowledge (and sometimes without), leading to major problems. Yes, you can use a hush email, but if the hacker rats/keylogs you the msn is done for.

You may think how can facebook avoid being hacked. Well the answer is this - most of the time when somebody is hacked it's cause of the email. Now with facebook you have the option to only let you see the email and nobody else. With that you can make special email just for the facebook account which nobody else knows and nobody else can know. Thus, making it impossible to hack your email.

    Advantages:
    • Can't be hacked by recovering an email
    • Can hide your email
    Disadvantage:
    • Nothing?

Other ways using facebook is better
    • Can have group chats for MMs and such
    • Can have picture proof of scammers in your photos to warn other people
    • Easily post updates of what you're buying/selling
    • Easily post updates if you're away for a while
    • Can post on peoples walls asking them questions
For imposters, it's the same as emails - you have to check if the right name (by checking the url), so sadly facebook won't help you there.

And if you're embarrassed to use your normal facebook as your trading one (you should be), make a new one and don't add anybody you know in real life.

So there's my little idea on how/why trading via facebook is much better than trading via msn. Please tell me any other advantages or disadvantages if I missed them.

Support for this, it'd take a while to get everybody using the Facebook trend but it has lots of benefits.

Isn't #1's disadvantage a huge problem? Proving that it was the real person is the main thing, really.

It is and I've worked out the solution for people talking in chat box (not messages). You have to hover over their name and it will provide you with a link to their profile - enter the link and it goes to the person you're talking to.

Also, if you find the person blocked you - it's pretty clear that they scammed you (or going to).

Still working out the blocking with messages though.

The problem with the MSNs chat logs are that they can be easily edited.. what make you think no one will edit/photoshop the facebook version ?

They definitely will, but the accused can post real pictures of what was said and let a mod a mod to team view (or even log in) to see the logs.

Just thinking about the imposter thing blocking thing with the chat logs. If an imposter scammed somebody and blocked them the real profile of the person would be viewable - showing that he was scammed by an imposter (cause the logs still show a blocked person). Proving he was scammed by an imposter. I'll write more into this as I think about it and work stuff out.

There is a downfall of this cosrob. Now most people won't want to give out there private facebook's to sythe.

"How long does the Invite Take?

Unfortunately there’s no real telling when you’re going to get the invite. Typically, Facebook won’t keeping you too long and you should have the new service in no time. If you get yours in under 24-hours I’ll be impressed. It took a couple of weeks for most users to get theirs. Expect anywhere from 1-3 weeks for an invite to go. Please comment below on how long it to for you to receive yours."

So, people if they don't already have facebook, will be waiting 3-4 weeks for this invite.

I have denied and will continue to deny and archive any scam report with facebook stuff in it.

But I am looking at this with an open mind and it will never catch on.

Though I don't expect everybody to use fb instantly, but if it catches the general trend a week waiting time won't be too bad. If somebody reads this thread today and makes an account - in a week or two they'll get invited. So the general wait won't affect it too much.
    Why deny them?

I don't expect this idea to completely catch on, but it would be good if some bigger priced trades are done by fb (easier to prove a scam happened).

Like an imposter? It's basically the same with msn, but with an url.

On msn you can directly copy a persons facebook on msn atleast you can tell by the msn url if it is an imposter or not, suppose I'm trading with somebody on sythe, so I tell my facebook user to add on sythe, I then get invitations from multiple cosrob accounts which all look identical. This is the main problem I see also Facebook is a lot easier to edit then an msn chatlog is, harder to prove your talking to real sythe member and not an imposter, harder to figure out if person is away from keyboard, or blocked.

Also I believe when the other person deletes you all convos and proof would be deleted since you would no longer be on their friends list and they wouldn't be on yours.

You can tell by the facebook url - for example, "https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=cosrob97trading", notice the cosrob97trading? It's the same as msn. Just with facebook.com at the front instead of hotmail.com at the back.

It may be easier to fake them, but it's way easier to prove they're fake. Deterring people to make fakes - they know the risk of making fakes is too great and they won't.

The message history isn't deleted - it's just you can't click on the profile you're talking to. Instead of having a picture and link in their name, the name is just black and no hyperlink. I'm working on this point at the moment.
