Speed up my computer!

Basically I have really slow connection because we have wireless internet at my house and I can never get first hit in a stake giving me a huge disadvantage. Does anyone know how I can get my computer or laptop to run faster??

 

Plug it into your router when you stake, if you're using your laptop. Should make things a little easier.

 

Try defraging your HD and running CCleaner. Those can slightly boost performance. As far as your network connection goes, you're probably going to have to plug it in like fox said. Wireless internet tends to suck for gaming, at least in every situation I've been in.

 

Before you start staking restart your router, it will clear the memory and the connection won't be as bogged down.

 

Im not very computer literate so how do I plug it into my router and how do I reset my router? Thanks for the help tho so far guys

 

Well, for my advice, you want to restart, resetting could be very bad! Anyway, basically look on the back of your router for a power button, just push it once to turn it off, leave it off for about 30 seconds, then push it again to turn it back on. After about 1-2 minutes you'll be set. So you know, once you turn it off, you'll lose internet. And it will take time for the connection to come back on once you turn it back on. If you don't have a button, you can just unplug it for 30seconds and plug it back in.

Ethernet cord would be the first thing I can think of.

I suggest you upgrade your internet (unless you found a resolution already.) This can be beneficial in the long run because rates change quite often. Buying a new router can also sometimes help too.

Only way to make your internet connection better is plugging it in like what others said. Wireless against Wired is never good. Wired always wins it.

 

Doesn't necessarily mean that it is your computer. The computer could have a lot of junk/files/viruses on it. Just go through it, clean it out, make it neat and tidy. Run a virus scan, defrag it, the lot and try it then.

 

Slow computer =/= slow connection

whats the specs of your computer? get a new one if its too old
