NYS Senate PASSES Gay Marriage Bill

The scientific studies which focus on hormonal influences directly are not ones that aim to prove cause and effect. They are ones that aim to display reactive brain patterns. If you want to discuss hormonal influences, then I can mention that there's a strong ongoing hypothesis that homosexuality might be caused by different hormone balances the child receives while in the womb (between the child and mother).

The reality of it is that this issue has been poorly studied. Only recently have a significant amount of people come out...and it's rather difficult to gather thousands of willing participants in comparison genetic mapping studies (to locate a gene, if that is the reason). Secondly, many times scientific discoveries of genetic links come by trial and error (turning genes on and off). Considering that there are about 25,000 unique genes in humans...it's pretty damn difficult to "aim" for a particular gene, nevermind the moral factor of actually doing that to humans. So now you have to perform the studies on animals, but first make sure that the genes you are studying are very comparable. Other studies are currently being done to study children's brain development, before they even hear or know of what sex is. And thus far, neurologists have been able to distinguish specific differences between a homosexual and heterosexual individual's brain development in childhood (again, before they even hear of sex or are interested in relationships).

It takes time. But I can assure you that the science and medicine community (I'm in med school) are practically positive of two things: 1) it's involuntary, 2) it's determined before birth - and that point of view is out of objectivity. That is the reason that homosexuality is now referred to as a sexual orientation, rather than a sexual preference.

Actually, research on social factors influencing homosexuality have resulted in practically zero positive correlation or causation.

From the New York Times (12/17/91), "Despite many attempts, there has been no clear demonstration that parental behavior, even a parent's homosexuality, affects children's sexual orientation. Cultures tolerant of homosexuals do not appear to raise more of them than do less permissive societies."

 

You're retarded. My girlfriend has a cousin who is gay, and has a long term partner that has helped her raise 3 children and not a single one of them are gay. If you seriously think that homosexuality is a disease or is somehow contagious, you really need to just speed up natural selection by jumping off of a bridge.

 

Hopefully this leads to the removal of gay people from the human race.

 

There has always and will always be gay people. Just because gay people aren't killed for being gay, and hence more gays come out now, doesn't mean that it's some new fad that will go away in a matter of years when the current gay population dies out.

Because there has been homosexuals all throughout time? Lol. You really think it's just a taboo thing or something? Also, if it were "some weird chomosome shit", which it is not, what could we do to stop that? Downs Syndrome is a legitimate chromosomal malformation, and I don't see a cure for that yet. You're treating it like it's a disease, which it is not.
