Why do you hate homosexuality?

I just want to start out by saying I am not gay, but I love gay people and really support their strives for equal rights.

After seeing recent posts in General Discussion / Off-Topic, I've noticed quite a few people here on Sythe not only do not like homosexuals but outright despise them, it seems. I just can't really bring myself to understand why that is? What is it about homosexuality that is so inherently disgusting that you have to openly express it so vividly?

It's one thing to disagree to the extent that so many people do with homosexuality with something that actually causes harm, such as murder or rape. I ask all the gay bashers: what harm does it do to you? Are you so uncomfortable with your own sexuality that the mere thought or sight of a homosexual is enough to set you on edge? I just don't understand the stigma associated with it. Religious intolerance is not justification for the hate and lies that are spread about homosexuality, and neither is personal prejudice.

It's disgusting seeing it, if you've ever seen two gay people show PDA you would know.
Kinda like people who are scared of seeing blood you can't control yourself but just be disgusted by it.

 

I have seen gay people do much more than simply show PDA, and was not disgusted by it any more than if a straight couple had been doing it. Disgusting is a matter of opinion.. I am also not disgusted by blood, unless you're talking mangled bodies.

I don't see how PDA is causing harm to you in any way. That is not a valid reason to hate gay people.

 

I agree, this is a stupid reason to hate homosexuality. You only hate it because you aren't used to it.

That said, weren't gays the first humans to acquire AIDS, and didn't they spread it to the rest of the human population?

Furthermore, I'll stop judging them when they stop judging me.

I can't control being disgusted by seeing two people of the same gender kissing, same as you can't control being disgusted by mangled bodies...

 

That's a stereotype that has never been proven, and never will be. AIDS didn't just come out of nowhere because gay people started to become more open, we just hadn't found/diagnosed the disease until then, and gay people made a very easy scapegoat because of ignorant retards. Also, AIDS has nothing to do with being gay. The fact that the anal tissue tears more easily during sex and therefore the virus is more easily transmitted is the only correlation, and anal sex is not limited to just homosexual relations. Plus it can still be transmitted vaginally, orally, and a plethora of other ways.

Erm, when has a gay person ever judged you for being straight? That's ridiculous. You may have found the one straight basher out of the bunch, but I have never known or much less heard of straight hate among gays. Unless you call fighting for equal rights being judgmental.

You missed the point. A mangled body is on a different level entirely. You're comparing apples to oranges, it doesn't work that way. I'm sure the vast majority of people would be far, far more disgusted by a mangled body regardless of whether or not they hate gay people. Use a better example if you're going to do comparisons. Also, just because I find mangled bodies disgusting, does not mean I should hate mangled bodies.

 

It's not on a different level if you both can classify them as phobias.
And it's not possible to hate magled bodies, but you can hate seeing them similar to hating to see gay people.

 

You're tip toeing around the wording so that you can compare it to something that is vastly more horrible and still make an argument out of it.

So you're saying a phobia consisting of fearing babies for example is equivalent to fearing being disemboweled?

I've explained my reasoning, and that's all I'm going to say to you. If you choose to be ignorant about something just because you disagree with it, so be it.

I didn't say gays only judged based on sexuality....
For example many gays judge Atheists, emo people, nerds, etc.

And in my school I hear a lot of gays saying "eww screamo isn't music it's just a bunch of bad noises". They're hypocrites if they judge.

 

Straight people do the same thing. There is no correlation between judging about the things you listed and sexuality.

Again, not a valid reason to hate somebody.

 

Let me preface, I don't hate homosexuality, I support equal rights for them and straight couples. I DO however, feel mildly emotionally uneasy around some of them.

I don't know, that's the honest reason. I think it's unnatural so to speak. Also, the way some of them speak and act in your presence is a bit weird and awkward. This is why I don't like some of them on an emotional level, If I weren't seeing them, eg. Forums, text, I'd have no problem whatsoever. Before you jump in against the second point, yes, I feel the exact same feeling around heterosexuals that act the same way.

 

yeah agree you see this homophobic behavior all over the internet. Taunts like fag, gay are common. I personally pity those narrow minded individuals and try to ridicule their posts with statements like " it's so bisexual, you are so hetero ".
I think many people use minorities to let off frustration, it is easy and takes no risk/bravery. It just reflects the person's character and shows he/she isn't worth your time.

 

If it really does not have anything to do with the fact they're homosexual, there is nothing wrong with that. Even I do not enjoy company with the more.. in your face "I'm gay!" kind of people, just as I do not enjoy the company of homophobic people, or girls that insist on letting you know they're a bitch and don't care what you think, etc. It's normal.

You misread. I did also say it was unnatural. If I was around a gay couple kissing for example, I would feel uneasy. I would have no conscious control over my emotions, it would just happen.

 

Even if it were two smoking hot lesbians?

Also, in a world full of so many unnatural things, it's hard to hate something for being unnatural. Regardless of your beliefs, we were not made with the idea of things like cell phones, televisions, computers, etc in mind yet you probably don't find the unnatural-ness of those items to be particularly unsettling

 

Any girls kissing in public is fucking disgusting.
They're not a perfect 10 if their lesbian, more like a perfect 0.

 

You sound incredibly homophobic, yet you can't produce one single valid reason to be so. There is nothing threatening or harmful about gay people. The fact you judge a person's appearance based on their sexuality shows your own personal bias/prejudice is preventing you from forming any sort of logical approach to the argument at hand.
