How would a short-term VPS rental business go over?

I'm wondering if renting out a VPS short-term would be a viable business, for people who only want to bot one thing and don't want to have to bother with setting things up and such. I'm thinking something along the lines of 1 day=$2 or 4m RSGP, 2+ days=$1.50 or 3m RSGP/day. I would probably use a 1GB VPS.

I think I could set it up so that the current user can change the VNC password so they know that I cannot access the account unless I reset it. I could add commonly used free scripts in RSBot or they could use their own RSBuddy accounts or Nexus auths. Ideally, I would find a way to make an image of the VPS files and wipe and reinstall them between each use, but I'm not sure how feasible that is.

    Thoughts?

I'd drop the prices a tad bit, then it might work out.

    Good luck!

That's true. I would have them lower to start out with, and see how it went from there.

Since you'd still have absolute control of the VPS, you'd technically have control of their accounts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt it possible to reset only the password and not the VPS itself? If so, it's a big risk on the buyer's part, but it's a good idea if you could somehow eliminate this risk.

If you did somehow eliminate this risk, you could just advertise this on the rsbuddy forums and you'd only need to install the rsbuddy client.

That's the main problem. The best I could come up with is to somehow let them set the VNC password without my knowing what it is. I could still theoretically change the password and access the account, of course, but if the password remained intact they would know I hadn't. As far as I know, the only way to interact with a bot client on a VPS is through a VNC server. Part of it would just be developing trust, of course.

Auths wouldn't really be an issue - they can use their own nexus auths or RSBuddy accounts, or any free scripts. The only auth I have anyways atm is for iDung. If I did get more, I'm sure I could figure something out.

Darkstassassin Success is not permanent, the same is also true of failure.

This is basicly a skilling service, except you would probably be making less money.

Would recommend opening up your own service :)
